  1. heh.....that Bobby.....what a space cadet. I bought the 'new' Meat Puppets without hearing it first sometime late last year................snore.......I listened to it exactly once. Btw, I've never downloaded ANY music at all.
  2. They're both funny but Tenacious D has the chops that rawk.
  3. JB and KG from Tenacious D and I had a big laugh over that notion. Just saying.....
  4. heh.....I checked to see if mine did.....after I realized that they werent kidding.
  5. Funny you should mention that........yesterday I stumbled upon someones rock and country record collection circa '65 thru '72 at a moving sale. I found original mint copies of the Moby Grape double album Wow/Grape Jam (I'd sell the Wow album in a second-cripes does it suck-whats with the switch to 78 for that one tune?). I already had most but a few things stuck out-a recording of the Allman Joys (pre Allman Brothers) and a Ma Rainey best of collection. I also got two Hank Snow albums from 59 and 60 (Sings Jimmie Rodgers is one title) and the Volume 2 compilation from the Country Music Hall of
  6. I have an original poster from Chicago's Kenetic Playground/Electric Theatre from, I think, late 68/early 69 showing upcoming bands such as Led Zepplin, Grateful Dead, etc. The heading on the poster says it all "A Bill of Unsurpassed Excellence!" A college buddy gave it to me back in the 80s.
  7. A person very close to me spent 3.5 years in the Peace Corp and found it to be very rewarding. He's now working for a NGO in Sri Lanka due to his experience gained thru the PC. The possibility of working for the UN and/or the State dept is very real down the road as well.
  8. No way man, Wavy Gravy is where its at. I'm waiting for him to announce his candidacy. ANY day now......
  9. "Good Girls Dont"--I still spin that one every once in a while, its a good tune.
  10. Georgia Satellites-"Keep Yer Hands to Yerself" or whatever its called. Tom Tom Club-"Genius of Love" The Trashmen-that bird song
  11. Ah, 16 Candles...........brings back memories..........a kid from my neighborhood was in that movie. At the time of filming, no one believed him but there he was, in all his glory. Remember the bathroom scene when the panties were revealed to the nerds? Next time you watch it, look close for the kid in the Judas Priest t-shirt and the horrible teen pre-mustache. Thats Karl K. Yep, just one of my brushes with the marginally famous or not very so.
  12. The Landing on Water tour was the first time I saw Neil. Great show, made me a lifelong fan. Later that year they had a live broadcast from California (Cow Palace?) which I dutifully taped. Years later, I bought the LoW CD for cheap-definitely a stinker. One album thats mostly overlooked is Silver & Gold. Its low key but Neil sounds real happy.
  13. One mississippi................two mississippi...........
  14. Me too..................'I'm walking in here on my knees, a free man proposin'.....'and...........'Son, you got a panty on yer head'............those keep a smile on my face......
  15. "That bullet went thru me and on about its business' Sterling Hayden in The Asphalt Jungle. That film is chock full of tough guy noir-speak.
  16. Dont forget Freedom and Live at Massey Hall.....
  17. Check out a couple vids of Crash Worship, easily the most insane, moving and powerful band I've ever seen in my life.
  18. I came of age in the 80s.........the Raygun/bush/AIDs/hair band era was kind of a drag.............anyway, I'm drawing a complete blank when it comes to 80s movies...."Down By Law" was good.....I think a few Hal Hartly flicks came out in the late 80s........... Tunes? Looks like the good stuff ('cept Cure and Depeche Mode-I'll never understand that stuff) was mentioned......SST and the Minneapolis area was putting out some good stuff. California was putting out some solid hardcore punk in the early 80s........as a gigantic fan of the Meat Puppets, I'd say start there.....
  19. Consider yourself lucky, I havent had a spring break in almost 20 years. All I did with those breaks is party with the neighborhood kids who didnt go to school and I liked it!
  20. "Lets just say they don't paint debra Koons the nicest picture. " I understand there is a body of evidence that would support that portrayal. Poor Jerry, all he cared about was the music...........and the Persian but thats the other side of the story.....
  21. RIP Art! Thanks for Childhoods End!
