  1. In November? Jeez, people will soon start putting up decorations just after Halloween soon.
  2. The RJD albums with Rainbow are stone classics in my opinion and get heavy airplay to this day in my house. Whereupon, my wife will wander in and ask me am I reliving my youth.
  3. Major vibes to RDJ..what a vocalist and a rock icon. Hope he pulls through.
  4. I have completely fallen in love with this band over the last 18 months or so. Never a week goes by without me playing something from them. Gorgeous, sweet stuff.
  5. There's a little information here. http://www.enjoy-europe.com/hte/chap11/electric.htm I charged all out stuff just by using an adaptor on the plug when we were in the States and had no appreciable problems. I am sure you can pick up adaptors in the airport prior to travelling anyway and hotels are almost always ready and able to help as well. Enjoy Italia cos it's bleedin' great. France and me don't get on at all.
  6. I am more a classic Twlight Zone man myself. I did watch some of the original series of "V" the other day on tv and it looked terribly amateur. Even for the 80's.
  7. That sounds pretty dodgy to be honest but I love the Wiki entry of one of the leading actors, Sterling Hayden. Standing 6-feet, 5-inches tall (196 cm),he is one of the tallest leading actors of all time. Great to be know best for being tall.
  8. Been doing that for ages with a little Firefox extension, Download Helper.
  9. Freakwater for sure. Hazeldine as well. All the usual suspects mentioned here. Also big love for Stevie Nicks for Belladonna and a bunch of great Fleetwood Mac tunes.
  10. It cost me a ton of money but it was well spent..very well spent.
  11. Nice one. Damien Jurado there too. 1. Coats of Ice 2. Denton, TX 3. Hoquiam 4. Abilene 5. Jillian Was a Horse 6. What Were The Chances 7. Gasoline Drinks 8. Now That I'm In Your Shadow 9. Great Today
  12. I am mostly thankful that I made it to 44 without losing my hair, even if it is going gray, or losing my mind, which was a very real possibility a few years ago. I am thankful for great music, great tv and great books to fortify my mind against the tide of common denominator tripe that is pushed on us as mass culture. I am thankful that I live on the top of a hill and have mostly missed out on the terrible flooding these past couple of weeks. I am thankful that Sky Sports is showing ALL 3 NFL games on tv on Thursday! And of course all that family malarkey and friends stuff and all th
  13. Just reliving probably the greatest gig I have ever seen...or will ever likely see.
  14. I am very disappointed that Queen didn't get a mention. After all, they have just brought out ANOTHER best of collection.
  15. Is the newpaper doomed? Are people buying them less and less? I only get a paper on a Sunday now mostly. The Times and The Observer. Occasionally, I will pick up the Irish Times during the week but that's about it. I rarely see younger people buy papers either. It's mostly more mature people who seem to feel the need to buy a daily paper. Shame that. I also peruse the BBC website for news. RTE over here as well for a more localised feel.
  16. A sampler from 4AD records that came free with Uncut years ago. Dug it out again and am digging it. Includes one of the greatest songs ever in Dead Can Dance's American Dreaming.
  17. Well, there is baggage there too obviously.
  18. All a matter of opinion of course but good to see Damien Jurado mentioned.
  19. I don't get the ornery thing about Jay. I have met him twice, during the day before gigs and he was very relaxed and personable and easy to chat to. Just a normal dude really.
  20. I have been doing the exact same thing. I never really got this show and even now I only find it funny sporadically. He just annoys the shit out of me, the whiny bastard. I suppose the exaggeration of his character is the point but still... I have also been doing something similar with Arrested Development and that was a really great find...very funny and smart as a whip.
  21. All this thread goes to prove is that musical taste is subjective and thank fuck for that or else we'd all be listening to Lionel Richie and Mariah Carey.
