  1. Actually, I'm relieved. I never understood why everyone thought he would be the best coach that UofM could get. Sure, he has the well known ties to Bo and the school, but is he really the best head coach in the country? I don't know who will be the next coach, but I can imagine that a lot of people were scratching their heads back in 68 when Bo replaced Bump. Miles has a history of shooting off at the mouth and causing controversies. For example, I recall earlier this year (perhaps it was during the summer) where he made some statements about Alabama and Saban. I don't recall the exa

  3. I would have voted for A Charlie Brown's Christmas, but it really isn't a movie IMHO. However, it is handsdown the best Christmas special. One year I bought all my brothers and their wives the VHS of the special and the soundtrack CD. I voted for A Christmas Story. That movie has so many great scenes and lines. It's not Christmas until someone opens a present and says "Oh boy, a Zepplin" or "Fra-Jee-Lay, it must be Italian".
  4. Maybe you need to remove the tin foil from the attic.
  5. If rooting for the Buckeyes and the Sweatervest means stopping Miles from becoming a coach of a National Championship team, so be it! At least Lloyd will have that over the classless idiot who cannot even pronounce the name of the state immediately north of Louisiana. Plus, it will make November 22, 2008 all the better when Michigan beats the defending National Champions in Columbus. Sorry Q23CD.
  6. An honest question to the journalists who frequent VC - Is this the ethical standard that reputable journalists and editors adhere to when making the decision to publish? Obviously Sen. Craig is a public figure and the standard to establish defamation is extremely onerous, but this article appears to be little more than rumor mongering and muck-raking. That said, I can't think of a better victim for rumor mongering and muck-raking than the distinguished gentleman from Idaho.
  7. Wow, what a weekend of football . . . and my team didn't even play! Mizzou got shafted, but that matchup with Arkansas might just be the best game on January 1. Even I can't summon up the fake bravado and predict a Michigan victory over the Gators. Meyer and Tebow will probably gut 'em like a walleye out of Saginaw Bay, this could be worse than what Dennis Dixon did to them on September 8. And Miles' decision to stay at LSU will make the coaching search in A2 very interesting. I wonder if the Ferentz rumors will heat up again. And even though this will probably result in a revocation of
  8. Triple hearsay of the day: MGoBlog links to an LSU fan site message board with postings from people who have been told by those close to the team that Miles supposedly has told his team that he is taking the Michigan job - What a suprise. MGoBlog Link
  9. I don't like how they zoom right up into Les's bunghole right before the explosion. But other than that, this might be one of the funniest things I've seen on the internets in a while.
  10. Reservoir Dogs was what first came to mind when I saw the title to this thread so that is what I voted for. But if I could vote for a second movie, it would be Pulp Fiction.
  11. I'm taking a "wait and see" approach in regard to the U of M coaching search. There are going to be a lot of crazy rumors and until Bill Martin actually holds a press conference and names the coach, I'm not going to get too excited. Unless of course the rumor is that Bill Belichek is ready to leave the Patriots and bring Brady back home because they discoverd 2 years of unused eligibility, and that Moss has some left-over eligibility and wants to pursue that Kinesiology degree.
  12. It might be trite but whenever I fly the following lyric runs through my mind: "Sanitation expert and a maintenance engineer Garbage man, a janitor and you my dear A real union flight attendant, my oh my You ain't nothin' but a waitress in the sky"
  13. The dish that made Thanksgiving for me was my Grandma Reynolds' corn. She and my Grandpa had a dairy farm and she always had a vegetable garden. She would freeze the corn that she grew, and at the holiday feasts would make a very simple corn dish. It was not quite creamed corn, but whatever it was that she did to that corn, she took to the grave because my Mom, my Aunts, and my Sister-in-laws cannot make the corn the way Grandma R did, try as they might.
  14. Good lord, bite your tounge. Although I would have a perverse sense of joy if Saban was named coach as both of my parents are Sparty alums and my mother constantly bemoans the fact that Saban left for greener pastures.
  15. Driving by Bell's Eccentric Cafe this morning on the way to the office, I noticed that December 7 is Eccentric Day. Let the freaks loose!
  16. Cooper never won a National Championship. I don't think mentioning Lloyd's name in A2 will cause a similar reaction. As for a new QB and RB, those are not positions that Michigan needs to worry about for the foreseeable future. Although Mallett had some problems (like getting the ball from the center), he showed enough potential this year that makes me believe that he will be a very good college QB. As for RB, hopefully Grady will recover completely from his knee surgery; C Brown and B Minor will continue to improve, and incoming freshman McDuffie will live up to 80% of the hype. The r
  17. It's official now. I just watched the press conference, and it was typical Lloyd. A little bit surly and irrasicable, a little bit of good humor, and 100% True Blue to the end. As Bill Martin said at the end Go Lloyd and Go Blue!!!!
  18. Of course. The wait was only 45 minutes or so. Two Bell's Best Browns at the bar and then we were at the table. The best part was some stranger who had never had a Bells bought the second one because he was impressed with the brew when I recommended he get a pitcher for his friends.
  19. The rumor floating around Section 6 Saturday was that Mrs. Miles was in Ann Arbor last week looking at houses. Take that for what its worth. There is no way English would get the job. I think he was being groomed for the position, but the way the defense fell apart late last year and this year, he does not have a shot. While the game was a disappointment, dinner at Cottage Inn Saturday afternoon made the trip worthwhile. And the tOSU fans sitting next to me were very good sports. I'm already looking forward to Nov. 22, 2008. The new coach gets one in C-Bus! Go Blue!!!!
  20. I'm heading out the door and getting ready to head to Ann Arbor for The Game, and I thought I would leave Q23CD one final thought: Go Blue!!!! Beat tOSU!!!!
  21. My brother used to do the deep-fried turkey for holidays. Then he and the missus went and had a kid who is allergic to peanuts. I love the little rascal, but damn, did he ever ruin the holiday feasts.
  22. With the Schrutes, brother just might also mean cousin. Just saying.
  23. What made last night's episode so great was how close to reality the deposition scenes were. When Michael basically threw Jan's whole case under the bus during cross examination, I had an eerie sense of deja vu. There is nothing worse than having a witness that you thought was thoroughly prepped completely come off the rails and start to testify to facts that completely undermine your client's case, and you are hearing those facts for the very first time. When you ask your client and the witness why you are hearing such damning facts for the very first time they invariably end up telling yo
