Your Top 5 places to go/things to see
IATTBYB replied to insideoutoflove's topic in Tongue-Tied Lightning
Les Invalides. This was by far my favorite place* I visited with my HS French Club many, many years ago. *except for all the bars and cafes we snuck out to. -
If you ever have a race in SW Michigan, let me know, and I will make sure that I am out by the road to cheer you on. I am serious.

I admit that I bought into Phil Liggett's and Paul Sherwin's party line that this year was going to be different, that the sport was making significant progress in its effort to stop the cheating. I was naive enough to buy the explanation that Beltran was doping in an effort to prolong his career. Maybe my choice of word regarding this being the "last straw" was inartful. I will still watch the TDF for the spectacle and realize that I am probably watching a bunch of cheaters.

3 days, 3 positive epo tests. If I'm not mistaken, all of the positive results were from testing after the TT on stage 4.

I was really enjoying following this year's TDF but the news today that Saunier Duval has withdrawn after Ricco's positive EPO test might be the last straw for me. When Beltran was caught a couple of days ago, the apologists just chalked it up to him being an older rider just trying to make it through the twilight of his career. Then, when the second Spainard from Barloworld was caught, the apologists made the excuse that although the sport is making progess in cleaning out the dopers, the Spanish riders aren't getting the message. Now, the Italian Ricco's positive test, who has won two of

When I first read the title to this thread, I thought how pathetic it was that the Pumpkins were playing a casino on Fremont Street, that they couldn't even rate a casino on the Strip. Then I clicked the link in Louie's original post and almost spit my coffee up when I saw it was the Horseshoe in Hammond. Now that is pathetic.

I'm confused, who was dancing naked, the giggling 18 y.o son laughing at Iron Butterfly, or the 50 y.o birthday boy? In either case, it's a disturbing mental image.

Please, I beg you from the bottom of my heart, answer 'YES' at least once. That will teach her not to ask questions that she doesn't really want answered.

Gull Lake, Michigan, not the one in Minnesota, which is the one I think you thought I meant. I'm certain your Gull Lake is just as nice as my Gull Lake And since my nephew is going to be in town the is appropriate as I'm sure pirate battles with super-soakers will be on the agenda.

Friday morning, watch the parade and then eat chicken in the park. Friday afternoon, fun & sun on beautiful Gull Lake. Friday night, fireworks over the lake and try not to crash into any other boats. Saturday and Sunday, see Friday afternoon.

NBC is airing the debut episode of SNL hosted by Carlin tonight. Not only will that be a fitting tribute to a gifted comedian and social commentator, but it will also give all of you kids a good idea how far that shit-bag of a show has fallen.

The Absolutely Official NHL Off Season Thread
IATTBYB replied to TCP's topic in Tongue-Tied Lightning
The Wings #1 off season priority should be convincing Chelios that it is time to hang up the skates. -
Why do you ask? Do you think an inanimate object forgot the lyrics?

The folks in Grand Blanc have to be really disappointed by this news. With Buick as one of his main sponsors, he usually makes it up to the Flint area. I guess the biggest draw this weekend will be good ol' John Daly, who I heard has a sponsor's exemption into the field. Bring on the yokels.

Tiger won with a torn ACL. What can you say about the guy, he's unreal.
-
Seconded. As great as his career has been, oh what may have been. Griffey is one of those players I just can't bring myself to dislike, even though he has never worn the Old English D.

Afternoon temps in SW Michigan have been in the 90s with high humidity and severe thunderstorms since Friday. Add to that the power outage from 5:00 pm Fri to sometime Sat. Night and from 3:00 pm Sun until sometime this afternoon, it was a really bad weekend. What is even more maddening is that the power outages were only on my side of the lake, my dad, who lives across the lake from me, did not lose power all weekend.

My brother and sister-in-law lived near Atlanta in the early-mid 90's and did nothing but complain about all the traffic backups due to the infrastructure improvements leading up to the 96 Games in ATL. Once the games started though, they had a blast. My brother said the female beach volleyball was his favorite event. My SIL, coincendetally, really enjoyed the male beach volleyball.

What a game. I tip my hat to the Pens for not folding after the first two games. Games 3-6 of this series were some of the best hockey you will ever see.
-
Oh boy, Game 6 tonight. Hopefully it will be another classic, but please no OT. I have an interview tomorrow morning in Lansing and I'm still not over the sleep deprivation from Monday night/Tuesday morning.
-
Damn it, the cable went out right before the game actually started. Did the Wings score a goal? Where is my radio?
-
What's this place like? Is the GA area any good? I'm thinking about snagging some duckats off of Ticketbastard, but I don't want to get tied into the small fortune that gas & lodging will cost if the place is huge and the GA stinks or is otherwise sub-par.
-
Last night's game was great, even though the Wings came up on the short end of the scoreboard. The Pen's definitely deserved to win that game as they were a step faster and seemed to be on every loose puck. That 5-6 minute stretch in the 3rd w/o a whistle was fantastic hockey. Go Wings!!!

I need to figure out a way to get my brother to ask his in-laws if I can stay at their place in Teton Village.
