  1. In my case, it was probably Mike Mills from REM. He was one of the only people there, and I suspect he was only there because we happened to be playing in a place he liked to hang out.
  2. I want Glenn as my kicker. Wait, is that now how this works/
  3. That's a pretty good starter sampling of his '70s work. If you want to check out the '60s Mothers, I'd recommend We're Only in it for the Money or Uncle Meat. A lot of the Shut Up and Play stuff is (roughly) from the Joe's Garage era. If you like Shut Up, you might want to check that one out. 1/10th is probably more accurate.
  4. I live in a state that allows you to vote in the primary without being registered with a party. It's one of the few things about Georgia politics/elections that I like.
  5. No wonder I forgot. I'm pretty sure I crossed over that year and voted for McCain in an attempt to thwart W. Bush. I wonder how a McCain presidency would have worked out.
  6. Who did Gore beat to become the nominee? John Edwards? Kucinich? Who else? That whole era feels like ancient history.
  7. Well, that's beyond bizarre. Thanks a lot Florida Democrats. Catholicism really fucks people up.
  8. I am not disputing any of that. There's a difference between "Nader got votes that would have gone to Gore" and "Nader cost Gore the election." Your link is a response to the second claim, but the person you responded to only made the first claim.
  9. Will do. Neither of us have any skills specific to guitar building, so it'd be a learning process. but I figure solidbody electric is about as easy as guitar making gets. There's a woodworking store near my house that has some lutherie books. I'll need to go down there and check some of those out. I'm also still trying to decide on body shape. Copying an existing model, or designing something original. I figure we'll copy the routing for pickups/wiring/switches from an existing model, but I might play around with the body shape. Thanks for sharing that. Sounds really great!
  10. It's an undisputable fact that Nader got votes that would otherwise have gone to Gore. That's not a myth, and your link agrees. You're responding as if KevinG said "Gore lost because Nader took his votes." What those two people did is pathetic, ignorant, and counterproductive.
  11. The trailer has been released for the upcoming Hendrix/Atlanta Pop film. http://www.sho.com/sho/video/movies#
  12. That makes sense. Since Oteil and Jimmy are bandmates, and currently touring with ARU, maybe someone posted it on their behalf but mixed up. Sometimes artist pages have more than one person making posts.
  13. That's weird. I wonder why he posted it. Maybe just a scheduling mix up.
  14. Yes Herring. He announced it on his FB page today. EDIT: Well, now it's not there anymore. He must've taken it down. I read it two times earlier today.
  15. Minus Phil and Trey, plus John Mayer, Oteil Burbridge, and Jimmy Herring. http://www.deadandcompany.com/
  16. I thought I was done buying Hendrix stuff, but as an Atlantan, I guess Ill have to buy this Atlanta Concert record. even though the concert was not even in Atlanta.
  17. There's Austin City Limits, too, but their bookings are nowhere near as adventurous as Night Music and Sessions were,or Jools is. Ben Folds Five released a Sessions at W54 DVD, with their full set, plus extras. It doesn't make any sense to me why so few of the acts that played it have done this. And of those who did, most of them seem to have gone out of print.
  18. I don't understand why this show has disappeared. It's almost like it never existed. Same goes for Sunday Night/Night Music. Those shows had some of the best live music programming ever seen in the USA.
  19. Keith Moon and John Entwistle had one in the car they shared.
  20. Yeah, Jeff said it. I think it was about 2/3 of the way through the interview. It was in the context of whether or not songs have to be regularly practiced to prevent them from being forgotten/unlearned.
  21. Steve Howe's unaccompanied solo on Sound Chaser (Relayer).
  22. Test. That seems to work. Thanks! That was driving me nuts.
  23. (This forum won't let me quote anymore, wtf is up with that?) My guess with regard to the "pay someone else to play our own songs" thing is that WTA was their last label (Nonesuch?...I can't remember) album and the label didn't want it to be the last and/or it contractually wasn't supposed to be, so they worked out a deal: We (the band) are leaving prematurely. In exchange, you (the label) gets to keep your hand in the cookie jar for that one album. With regard to the live show sounding nothing like the album, my interpretation is that he was saying live performances always sound signifi
