I'm not pulling any GAs for MSG for this morning's on sale - just 300s and floor seats.
-
On Neil's site's presale, I'm only pulling up the $134 tickets. The "cheap" $89 tix are no longer available.

What albums have you heard live in its entirety!

>I think he played Town Hall during Mutations That is correct. -
mfwahl - In all of my years I've never heard anyone even mention a distinction between > and ->. It's actually pretty funny to hear about now and in such detail. I suppose the more the detail the better, but if so few people follow this arcane rule, there is a greater chance for providing incorrect information. I won't even ask about the Mockingbird Foundation. Nice avatar, by the way.

>They have already played for him once. Maybe they are trying to make up for all the years they did not speak up. Looks like Phil has been touring with an Obama sticker on an amp, at least since July: http://www.musicbox-online.com/photo-journ.../phil-lesh.html

>3. Beck- Sea Change..heard the full album at one show...have the setlist to prove it! Where? Town Hall in NYC? -
He's playing in Montclair, NJ, tonight at the Outpost in the Burbs.

>I remember from my Phish days that > means there is no break between songs and -> means that the two songs seamlessly morph/jam/segue into each other. Crazy kids. I'd never heard that. That is splitting hairs. To me, any use of an arrow or arrow-related sign means a morph/segue. That info is much more critical than connoting a stop and immediate start of another song, which to me is not much different than a short break of any length before the next song.

His comments about the Wilco loft: http://www.suntimes.com/entertainment/musi...d080308.article Q. Your music seems to be all about spaces. What does a room add to the recording? A. I

>Very cool, except, I think it's a pretty weak album. Agreed. Hopefully the second part of the show will be the older songs, not that I'll be there.

>dylan mid 90's shows were so good. '97-'02 was a particulary good period.

>QUOTE (Lammycat @ Aug 29 2008, 09:34 AM) I've seen the film (it's been a while) and remember it as being pretty grainy and a bit wobbly (camera) throughout. I think Kesey or Ken Babbs filmed it. Still, for historical puposes it's pretty cool. >It's been cleaned up - I think it is on youtube - or was not too long ago, anyhow. A lot of it is on youtube. I watched it over the weekend.

>i forget who played lap steel for dylan back then but it sounds very similar. You may be referring to Bucky Baxter or Larry Campbell.

>some great places to eat in Westfield Mojave Grill is a great place. I'm looking for houses in Westfield, but the prices are still a bit extreme.

What song would you like to see Neil and Wilco do together?

>Every show I've seen in the past few years "Spiders" emerges from the song preceeding it. >And Red-Eyed & Blue > I Got You (At the End of the Century) > Outtasite (Outta Mind). I'm talking about a long, drawn-out segue where one song slowly morphs into another, like Estimated>Eyes or China>Rider. -
The last few setlists have been ridiculous. KC must have been insane.

>And last, but not least, was Spiral Stairs (a/k/a Scott Kannberg) from Pavement, who joined Broken Social Scene for their closing number. Nice spot. He would have been good shouting "Nothing ... nothing" at the end of Misunderstood.

I'm much more interested in Neil and Nels together than Jeff's involvement. Maybe Nels could play lapsteel on Emporer of Wyoming before a full-on dual-guitar assault on one of Nels' Andrew Hill covers. >"Late Greats" could pretty easily morph into "Everybody Knows This is Nowhere". I've wondered why Wilco never does the segue. -
Still available at 2:40.

>Actually, any covers of the Basement Tapes stuff ends up souding really un-spontaneous and boring. People should stop trying to cover those songs. Can't say I agree. I'd rather hear someone cover a song from Basement Tapes than yet another version of Watchtower. Norah Jones does a great version of Bessie Smith in concert.

http://www.indy.com/posts/10434 Question: What season is this for Wilco? Are you writing or recording? Answer: It's more of a writing and recording mode, although, you know, we have to stay on the road. We usually always have something live on the horizon. It's a nice balance. Can you provide any hints or clues about what the new songs sound like? Well, it hasn't developed much beyond the basic framework and sketches of a lot of songs. Jeff had a lot of really nice material to work with, which is always good. What the final form is going to be, I can't tell. Is there a timetable for

Great review, Indy. Hope the show at least planted the Wilso seed for your kids. >The Indy Star reviewer compared his playing to the recent guitar work of Radiohead

Great post. I thought about the Danko connection after standing right in front of Stirratt for the second half of the Red Bank, NJ show last year. Great harmonies, bopping baselines, similar mannerisms.

Fantastic interview. Probably the best of read of Nels. Thanks for posting.
