mfwahl - In all of my years I've never heard anyone even mention a distinction between > and ->. It's actually pretty funny to hear about now and in such detail. I suppose the more the detail the better, but if so few people follow this arcane rule, there is a greater chance for providing incorrect information. That is splitting hairs. To me, any use of an arrow or arrow-related sign means a morph/segue. That info is much more critical than connoting a stop and immediate start of another song, which to me is not much different than a short break of any length before the next song.

I'm much more interested in Neil and Nels together than Jeff's involvement. Maybe Nels could play lapsteel on Emporer of Wyoming before a full-on dual-guitar assault on one of Nels' Andrew Hill covers. >"Late Greats" could pretty easily morph into "Everybody Knows This is Nowhere". I've wondered why Wilco never does the segue.

Great post. I thought about the Danko connection after standing right in front of Stirratt for the second half of the Red Bank, NJ show last year. Great harmonies, bopping baselines, similar mannerisms.
