  1. I really miss Wilco. I can't wait for the reunion shows.
  2. This is impossible, but... "Watermelon in Easter Hay" - Frank Zappa "Comfortably Numb" - Pink Floyd (the live, Pulse version) "Voodoo Child (Slight Return)" - Hendrix Those are my 3 favorite right now.
  3. Sorry if this has been brought up and ranted about before... But yesterday I bought 2 tickets as a Christmas gift for my brother and his wife to go see Michael Buble. After I paid for the tickets I received an email saying "Don't forget that this is a paperless ticket event. No tickets will be issued and the only way you can enter is to bring the credit card used to purchase these tickets and a valid ID" So basically you can't buy tickets as a gift anymore? Sounds like I'm gonna have to put my drivers license and credit card in a box, wrap it, and when he opens it up tell him, "These ar
  4. I highly doubt it as well. The only reason I got into Frank Zappa as a kid was because at the local record shop I used to go to (Rolling Stone Records in Chicago) he pretty much had his own section. Most other bands had 5-10 cds in the rack, and Frank Zappa had hundreds and I thought to myself, "if a guy has made this many albums and they are still for sale 30 years later, he had to be doing something right." I was right.
  5. Just want to remind everyone that tomorrow is the 16th anniversary of Frank's death. Listen to an album or 10 tomorrow in his honor. And if his music doesn't do it for you watch a few interviews of his on YouTube. The man was a true genius.
  6. Those of you who own and use the Sony V6 model - did you have to buy an outside power source in order for it to work with your ipod?
  7. Thanks! Just ordered them, so let's see what happens.
  8. When you say "very easily driven by an iPod" does that mean there is more work involved than just plugging it in and hitting play? I'm really interested in a nice set of headphones and was about to spend $600 on a pair until I saw this post.
  9. wow - one of the most overrated bands of all time covering one of the most overrated albums of all time
  10. Some I haven't seen mentioned (but I could be wrong): Yeah Yeah Yeahs - Zero Pride Of the Yankees - Patterson Hood Cornerstone - Arctic Monkeys Baby Boomer - Monsters of Folk My Last Mistake - Dan Auerbach Mama's Eyes - Justin Townes Earle I Don't Wanna Go There - Dinosaur Jr 40 Day Dream - Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeroes While You Wait For The Others - Grizzly Bear 40 Bucks - The Hold Steady Stars of Leo - M Ward This Love is Fucking Right - Pains of Being Pure at Heart You Can Move Back Here - Richmond Fontaine Don't Forget Me - Pat Sansone Seven Mile Island - Jason Isbell
  11. Haven't had time to give the whole album a listen, but "On The Five String" is standing out to me as well. Good stuff.
  12. Count me in for trying to get into one of these shows. I'll throw in $20 and bake a pie.

See you all tonight. Even though I don't know who any of you are. But I will see you.
  14. Whoever wrote this is wrong and whoever quoted it is stupid. Maps is one of the best songs of the decade. It's Blitz! is one of the best albums of the year. and Cheated Hearts is one of the most underrated songs of all time.

    I stand gladly corrected.

The UIC Pavilion does not sell beer. I am 99.82% sure. A saw Oasis there years ago and they sang "Cigarette and NO Alcohol" just to rub it in.
  17. One of the best bands in the world today, both on album and in concert.
  18. I would not marry a woman unless she liked the Beatles and if my kids don't like the Beatles by the age of 4 I will promptly put them up for adoption. I'm kidding, kind of.
  19. Just curious, how long have these shows been lasting? Setlists look great so far.
  20. I agree about Cooley. I'd put him right up there with Craig Finn and Jeff Tweedy.
  21. I will never agree with any list entirely, nor should anyone, but the omissions of all Drive-By Truckers albums and A Ghost is Born really tells you a lot about a list. Especially when they have 200 spots to work with. Plus - could you really leave A Rush of Blood to the Head or The Wind out? I know Coldplay may not be the most popular around here, but that album is wonderful.
  22. I'll go with Local H They had a huge single "Bound For The Floor" but that was about it. I still stand by the fact that they are one of the most underrated bands of all time and put on one of the most intense live shows I've ever seen.
  23. M Ward definitely steals the show on this one, and Conor isn't too far behind. Jim James mailed this one in. Extremely excited for this tour.
  24. Yeah I went on Saturday and loved it. Really was hoping to hear "Who's Gonna Ride Your Wild Horses?" but I knew that was a bit of a stretch on this tour. I caught the "Far, Far Away" snippet and mentioned it to my non-Wilco fan friend, and he said "Oh, it sounded like a Dylan song or something."
