1. I now officially regret the Giants taking Eli in the draft. I may at some point rescind this regret, but I just don't think the kid's that good. 2. How is that a team coached by an alleged "disciplinarian" commits all those fucking penalties? Is it a passive-aggresive thing? Either way, Coughlin sucks and this had better be his last year.

I'm voting for King Eliot and Hillary tomorrow!

Fine. I keep resisting the temptation to cut it all off.

God, you're so cool.

A lot of people, especially smokers and bar owners, predicted that, but it turned out that people just go outside and smoke. Bars were the only place I ever smoked tobacco, so I haven't had a cigarette going on a long time now.
-
You haven't been able to smoke in a bar in New York for quite some time now. Strangely, the bar economy failed to collapse.

Some good old Saranac Black & Tan.

Groovy. I think I'm going to be on my own for Manning a Manning. I need more degenerate, football-watching friends.

Good for you. What are they, Mormons or something?

My pick for "Greatest American of the Week" is this woman. NEW YORK (AP) -- Margaret Johnson might have looked like an easy target. But when a mugger tried to grab a chain off her neck Friday, the 56-year-old Johnson, while riding in her wheelchair, pulled out her licensed .357 pistol and shot him, police said. Johnson said she was in Manhattan's Harlem neighborhood on her way to a shooting range when the man, identified by police as 45-year-old Deron Johnson, came up from behind and went for the chain. "There's not much to it," she said in a brief interview. "Somebody tried to mug me,

It was their "Halfway to St. Patrick's Day" night, though why they did it tonight and not on the 17th is a bit puzzling. -
Should he stay or should he go??

Hey, take it up with the Pirates' ownership. That was one of the better franchises in baseball once. -
1. Ani DiFranco needs a fucking editor, among other things. 2. I don't subscribe to any theory that says we brought 9/11 on ourselves. If one wants to take a phenomenological view of it and not assign blame for a second, one could look at al-Qaida as a form of asymmetrical warfare waged by people who are completely opposed to the Western way of life. They think that by allowing religious freedom and not having a theocracy we ARE DOING EXACTLY THE WRONG THING. They also think that because of the puissance and pervasiveness of American culture ("Democracy, whiskey, sexy!), our behaving like we d

That was a very powerful film. Personally, I'll never forget how I felt in the about three minutes in between me first hearing about it and finding out my sister was OK. She had flown out of D.C. the night before.

Yes. "Live and Let Die."

There was a great poem by that Romanian poet guy that he read on the one-year anniversary of 9/11 that really hit me hard. I will attempt to shag it down and post. 9/11 (with Allen Ginsberg in mind) by Andrei Codrescu 9/11, I can barely remember you, they’ve buried you in so much hype! 9/11 I wept when you were first on television! I wept for New York, for the dead, for all of us, for myself, for the world! 9/11, I was sure that the world had changed forever because bad guys wanted America dead and hated us because we listen to rock 'n' roll and wear no miniskirts on our naked faces!

It said in the Al Gore movie that the Arabs will wait until people invest a bit in alternative energy and then drop oil prices so the investors in alternative energy will all lose their money. Then they will raise oil prices again.

Yeah, many of the locals in New Paltz get annoyed at that kind of thing, but if it wasn't for the college, New Paltz would look like Ellenville.
