I am also totally with Howard Zinn on this one. A second investigation would come out with the same results, for better or (likely) worse. The 9/11 stuff in the realm of conspiracy is there because they want it there. Why would a second investigation change any of that? The important thing at this point is making sure it doesn't happen again.

Florida teen commits suicide in front of webcam
explodo replied to Spawn's dad's topic in Tongue-Tied Lightning
At the risk of sounding insensitive, I think this is being a little overplayed. Obviously the medium is different, but all sorts of people threaten to kill themselves and not many people take that seriously. I don't think I would have been in the room calling that guy a faggot or telling him to go through with it, but I can name at least fifteen kids from my high school class that likely would have. And I am almost certain that even I wouldn't have believed he was really going to do it until it was too late. I know none of that makes it less awful, but I don't think it is particularly any more -
I'm hoping for a lot of chaos. Like OK State beating Oklahoma, Missouri beating Texas in the Big 12 Championship, etc. And while I don't want Alabama to lose, I think it would be interesting to see what happens if they lose to Auburn but upset Florida. And then whatever can happen to keep USC and Ohio State and Penn State from doing anything good would be alright, too.

29. Took me awhile. I don't remember learning much of that stuff. -
Lost all four games by a total of 12 points. I'm no Iowa fan, but they might not be as terrible as I usually hope they are.

So how about that Texas Tech? Yikes.

As evidence, I would have cited Michael Schiavo.

What do we all think about Daschle? I hate that guy, but he might be able to get something done.

The latest Ryan Adams thread
explodo replied to Duck-Billed Catechist's topic in Someone Else's Song
Yeah, I saw it on Pirate Bay but try to avoid torrents if I can help it. Plus, I'm a bit more hesitant about downloading RA stuff after that incident with Jacksonville City Nights or whatever record that was. -
I saw the Mysteries of Pittsburgh version in the store the other day but didn't know it was a series. Pretty cool. Too bad I've read them all. But, for those of you that haven't, I highly recommend each, especially for that price.

I cannot find these Elizabethtown Sessions on the interwebs. Anybody able to point the way via secret message? -
His new band is a lot better than he is.

I liked the Mitt Romney piece in the NYT today. He doesn't say anything new or anything surprising, but I think he is right. It won't win him any favors in Michigan, though.

Hello, It has come to my attention that a few people posting in this thread are stupid. Sincerely, Johnny Awesome, Jr.

He's right, guys. Next time, I say we act a little more gullible and try to get this thread on the path to being a good breeding ground for ignorance. Because America needs more of that. I'll start. Obama's dad was a crocodile that ate babies.

I know the lead singer is DC via Chicago suburbs. Maybe the rest of the band is Kentucky.

Pretty sure these dudes are from D.C.

Fuck the Red Sox. Bobsquared, take it to 'em.

Word is that Clinton will accept the SoS offer. Not a surprise, obviously, but what does she want out of it? I can't figure that out.

Yeah, I don't see the argument against him at all. I always understood the "valuable" to mean "valuable to his team."

That was gold. Ben Stein telling people to buy Merrill Lynch = phenomenal. Actually, that whole section somewhere around the six minute mark.....great.

Those Rochefort beers are phenomenal. Any of you southerners into Sweetwater? I've been dreaming about that stuff since I spent a few months in Atlanta two or three years ago. The best brewery tour in the history of brewery tours, too. They give you like 6 3/4 full pints for six dollars.
