5 more years for me, and I can't wait. Congratulations!

I'll be there with my son. Looking forward to it. The Uptown is an old theater, and for GA shows the floor is (usually) standing and the balcony is seated. Though when I saw Tom Waits there in 1981 we all had little cabaret tables with lamps. (Can that be real?) Each show is different, but I don't think reserved balcony seats were sold. The first couple of rows of the balcony are good seats. If you want to sit, get there early and head up the stairs. Neighborhood? It's in between the Plaza/Westport and downtown so it's pretty urban. Many good places to eat along the Broadway corridor. Just

This is an excellent question.

Babies in the garden. My garden on this moody morn. The catalpa is finally in bloom!

I don't have a vegetable garden per se, but this year I have 6 kinds of peppers, a couple heirloom tomatoes, chard and garlic. Strawberries and 3 kinds of dessert melons. Plus tarragon, lavender, 4 kinds of oregano, flat leaved parsley, lemon verbena and three kinds of basil. 3/4 of my acre is in permaculture. I gather hundreds of bags of oak leaves in the fall for deep mulch, and I plant my veggies and herbs right in with the rest of the landscaping. No till, no chemicals. Plus I have a compost as big as Analogman's living room.

NR: Rick Bass comes as close to my experience of the solitude and the natural world as any writer I've read. I have tears of recognition each time I read it. Thanks for the turn on, carlos.

There are some that might agree with that statement, yes. I will however invoke my right not to incriminate myself. -

And so one either has to be intoxicated and annoying to their neighbors or stand like statues? I really think there's middle ground to be found here. -

I wasn't at that show, so I'm not going to comment on things I did not experience. I will say this: I don't drink or use drugs at shows. Personal preference. I have been seeing live music for a long time and honestly I don't have problems with people that do. Many of my friends do. I dance like a fool at Wilco shows, and wait in line many hours so that I can stand at the rail and can sing without doing it someone's ear. What bothers me is that sometimes when people use drugs and alcohol at shows, normal social courtesies, self awareness and body coordination disappear, and this is especial -

Another trick to making iced tea is allowing it to come to room temperature before refrigerating it. Otherwise it gets cloudy.

Iced coffee: I brew 10 cups of strong coffee and when it's still hot mix in 1/2 can condensed (not evaporated) milk, and 1/2 C regular milk. Chill. It's not as sweet as Frappuchino. I drink it every morning. Green tea: Very important part of brewing green tea is not to let it steep too long. 3 MINUTES MAX! Any more than that, the tannins are released, making it bitter on the tongue.

This place has the best coffee in the universe. The best part of this story? Starbucks opened a shop right next door to this place a few years back, amid much neighborhood controversy. That same Starbucks closed this past year. FIGHT THE POWER!
