  1. Sounds very cool! Any idea how many dates they are doing with the film? (I suppose I could also try looking it up myself, but in case you knew offhand.)
  2. Sorry for the delay in responding, but the soundcheck in KC was basically: Country Disappeared I'll Fight (Was I) In Your Dreams (w/"Crazy" interlude-Willie Nelson-style) Sky Blue Sky Say You Miss Me —organ/keyboard jam—
  3. Definitely the goofiest show of the tour so far, what with the gold lamé shirt trading and all... Here were the setlists, as played: For Wilco: —"The Price is Right" theme music intro— Wilco (the song) A Shot in the Arm One Wing IATTBYH Bull Black Nova You Are My Face Company In My Back Kamera Handshake Drugs I'll Fight Cars Can't Escape Impossible Germany Sonny Feeling Hate It Here Walken I'm The Man Who Loves You Hummingbird ------------------ Theologians Jesus, etc. (crowd singslong) Can't Stand It You Never Know (w/Liam Finn on acoustic guitar and vox) ------------------ The Late Grea
  4. If it was at the Aeolian, I would definitely say hello. But I'll do my best this time, T. (Of course, you could always say hello to me!)
  5. It's late, so I'll just post the setlists for this arena spectacular (or not spectacular, depending on your point of view). Jim Scott, who co-produced both Wilco (the album) and the Seven Worlds Collide project, was at the show (with a couple of the Dixie Chicks, I'm told), and got shoutouts from both Wilco and Liam Finn. There was also Jeff's "regifting" of a signed Nolan Ryan baseball to somebody named Patrick in the first few rows. Apparently it was Patrick's birthday. Anyway, here's what Wilco played: Wilco (the song) A Shot in the Arm Bull Black Nova You Are My Face IATTBYH> One Wi
  6. You must be really fun company, sir (or madam).
  7. Nope, they've got about another week yet. Their last gig on this tour is Oct. 16 in Ann Arbor.
  8. Agreed. Liam and EJ have been a really great supporting act. I find it hard to believe most people couldn't find at least something to like about them. Hopefully someone got a good photo of Liam last night in his Michael Jackson-esque red jacket. I think it was more like the Thriller look, though I thought Jeff said something to the effect of it being Bad-era. Liam took it off after a couple of songs, but put it back on when he came out for YNK and California Stars (although he also had a scarf on, which detracted a bit from the MJ effect). I actually remembered to keep Liam's setlist as w
  9. Not a misprint. By my decidedly unscientific research, seems like the only other time that's happened this year in a non-festival set was the second night at the Pabst in Milwaukee on 4-15-09. (Personal to heffer: Is that interesting? ) Now a show without Jesus or I'm The Man? That would probably be a misprint.
  10. I have to say, fortunately it didn't get nearly as cold as I had feared. I would imagine outdoor shows in October could be dicey, given that temperatures went down to freezing overnight. Jeff mentioned how it was sort of a melancholy fall day and they were going to play some autumnal, "squash-colored" songs. Anyway, here was the setlist for Kansas City, as played: —"The Price Is Right" theme music intro— Wilco (the song) IATTBYH Bull Black Nova You Are My Face One Wing A Shot in the Arm Radio Cure Impossible Germany At Least That's What You Said One By One I'll Fight Handshake Drugs Sonny
  11. Yeah, watching that guy work his magic was one of the best parts of the show for me! It was just really cool seeing how he created all the different sound effects. Glenn was chatting with him afterward, maybe learning a few tricks of the trade. And although I couldn't see it all that well, I love that Nels "sat in" with the house band on "Hound Dog," which led into Wilco's second mini-set. His versatility never ceases to amaze.
  12. On about 8:50 pm, off about 11:15 pm. Give or take a few minutes.
  13. More like doing a little soloing on electric guitar (looked like he might have even borrowed one of Jeff's Gibson SGs). Oh, and the setlist agonistes posted to start this thread was correct, as played. They stuck to the script exactly, as she pointed out. Nice to meet you Mel!
  14. Thanks for the words of support, ditty. And very sorry to have bored you, heffer (but if you ever need a hand getting that stick out of your ass, definitely feel free to give me a call ).
  15. That's what the "Setlist Matcher" on Wilcobase is for! (Actually, that's the first time I've ever had occasion to use that function. )
  16. Interesting tidbit: According to Wilcobase, Cars Can't Escape and A Magazine Called Sunset have only been played at the same show five, now six, times (and actually, one was at a Living Room show, so it's really five times at an actual Wilco show). Three of the five times have been in Iowa -- twice at Val-Air Ballroom in Des Moines (9-17-03 and 3-9-08) and tonight in Iowa City. Weird. The other two times, incidentally, at were the first Auditorium Theatre shows (9-19-03 and 9-20-03). I can't say tonight's rendition of Cars was the finest one ever, though. Jeff flubbed a lyric and Nels, wh
  17. I dunno...I think Jeff could do a great job on "Crazy."
  18. Yeah, they're on a little Midwest/East coast tour right now in fact. I'm going to see them tonight in Philly, where they're opening for the Fruit Bats. I'm pretty sure the first half of this tour is just going to be the duo lineup with Mike and his friend Chris Girard, so I'm not sure what they're playing exactly. Probably just stripped-down versions of the All is Golden songs, if I had to guess. Greg, check 'em out if you get a chance. And p.s., Electro...love the videos for the Cheetah!
  19. Didn't see it discussed elsewhere in this long thread, so forgive me if it has. But this is just going to be a CD (and mp3 download) release, right? I haven't seen vinyl mentioned anywhere. Just wondering.
  20. Sam, unfortunately I didn't really take any photos at the Dublin shows. I probably should have, but I forgot to bring my camera the first night and then I didn't have a great angle of anyone but Nels last night. So I just decided to enjoy the show... Anyway, look forward to seeing your pictures. And you should definitely put some on Flickr!
  21. If Wilco were still around then, I think that'd be a record or something.
  22. Just so there's no confusion, since a couple songs were cut off from the above photo of the setlist, this was the complete set as played: —"The Price Is Right" theme music intro— Bull Black Nova You Are My Face One Wing A Shot in the Arm At Least That's What You Said IATTBYH Impossible Germany Deeper Down Jesus, etc. Sonny Feeling Nothing'severgonnastandinmyway(again) You Never Know I'm Always In Love Theologians I'm The Man Who Loves You Poor Places> Reservations> Spiders (Kidsmoke) --------------------- Wilco (the song) Heavy Metal Drummer Passenger Side California Stars (w/Blitzen T
  23. Nah, it's not nearly as tiny as Otto's. Probably about 1,500-2,000 capacity if I had to guess. There's a U-shaped balcony with seats, so that adds some room. And there's a similar U-shaped ring of seats on the main floor as well, though I don't know if those are GA or reserved or what. But anyway, the stage is pretty low and the acoustics are just really good for a club. It's actually a pretty nice space; the main floor is carpeted. You definitely wouldn't find that at Otto's.
  24. Sorry, B. I usually post the setlist first and then go back and edit the post if I feel like tacking some notes onto the end or whatever.
  25. Here was the setlist for the first night at Vicar Street: —"The Price Is Right" theme music intro— Wilco (the song) IATTBYH> One Wing A Shot in the Arm Bull Black Nova You Are My Face I'll Fight Impossible Germany It's Just That Simple Sonny Feeling Handshake Drugs (w/Janet Weiss on shakers) Jesus, etc. You Never Know Hate It Here Walken I'm The Man Who Loves You Hummingbird --------------------- A Magazine Called Sunset Misunderstood> Spiders (Kidsmoke) --------------------- Box Full of Letters Can't Stand It Hoodoo Voodoo I'm A Wheel The printed setlist indicated that the first son
