  1. Yeah, that dude must have been taking some of the hash he referred to in his lead paragraph. How else to explain mixing up When The Roses Bloom Again with Ripple?
  2. Complete setlist as follows: —Olympic theme music intro— Bull Black Nova You Are My Face IATTBYH> One Wing A Shot in the Arm At Least That's What You Said Should've Been In Love Deeper Down Impossible Germany It's Just That Simple Handshake Drugs You Never Know Summer Teeth Jesus, etc. (crowd singalong) Hate It Here Walken I'm The Man Who Loves You Spiders (Kidsmoke) Hummingbird ------------------------ Wilco (the song) Misunderstood Heavy Metal Drummer Passenger Side Candyfloss Red-Eyed and Blue> I Got You (At The End of the Century) Hoodoo Voodoo
  3. I would expect a heavy American contingent if there was a show in Prague. Isn't half that city American ex-pats or something like that?
  4. Fwiw I liked your piece, man. Sounds like a bit of a geezer fest, but those two have written some great songs over the years. I actually read a pretty interesting longer feature on the Hag fairly recently in, of all places, Rolling Stone. I think I'm generally in a bit of an "old school country" mode after seeing Crazy Heart recently (not that either of these guys would be playing bowling alleys anytime soon, though I'm sure they do play their fair share of casinos).
  5. Good to see you on here again, Sir Queenie! And glad you'll perhaps get to "summer" in Germany, with maybe even a jaunt over to the land of Czechs? I hear the Budweiser there is a tad different than the garbage we have over here.
  6. Really? If so, that'd be one they haven't done in quite a while (the second night of the residency, according to Wilcobase, and then before that not as a band since before Nels and Pat joined). That'd be a nice little nugget! Thanks for the report. Glad someone made it to Saskatoon. Really wish I had been able to. Oh, and I think your picture is actually from the intro to I'm The Man Who Loves You.
  7. I've got a decent single ticket I can't use for the show at Centennial Hall in London next Wednesday, in case anyone's looking. It's Orchestra Row H, seat 20. A hard ticket, not a printout. I paid US$48.50 including all service fees, but I'll take US$40 if anyone's game. Send me a PM or e-mail me at paulsuwan@gmail.com.
  8. I'm really glad this didn't happen during Wilco's performance there. Personally, though, Default was almost enough to cause me to start a one-man riot.
  9. Despite the fact that it rained steadily through the first half or two thirds of the set, it was a pretty fun night all around. People were in a festive mood with the Winter Games getting underway and they showed some of the events on the two JumboTrons on either side of the stage during the changeovers between acts. The band played a little over 90 minutes, from 9 p.m. to about 10:35. The show ended a bit abruptly with no encore, though it would quickly become evident why no encore was possible. (There was a big end-of-the-night fireworks show -- I guess it's going to be a nightly event thr
  10. An 11 p.m. curfew once again probably curtailed the set a little early, but a lot of variety for people who also went to the Portland show the previous night. One funny thing right off the top, for those who attended any shows last year when they played the "synthesizer" (MIDI?) band intros, tonight they weaved those into the middle of Wilco (the song). Not sure if it was an accident, as in Glenn hit the wrong spot on his sampler pad (my guess is it was planned) but at any rate, the band rolled with it and it was pretty hilarious. Mid-set, Jeff announced it was a special night because it
  11. Fwiw, you probably meant Mr. Soul, though it wasn't actually the song Mr. Soul they did but just the start of Broken Arrow (which mentions Mr. Soul). Confusing, I know. Sounded good, though I would have loved to have heard Nels play it with the Rickenbacker he used at the MusiCares show. Tonight he just used his white and black 12-string Jerry Jones -- the one he usually uses on IATTBYH.
  12. So I'm seeing Bonnaroo's tweets of bands for its lineup and with two out of every three, seemingly, I'm just like, 'Ugh.' Kings of Leon, Zac Brown Band, Dead Weather, Dave Matthews Band? Not that I would be going anyway, but compared to previous years it sounds not so great.
  13. No one else is gonna bite on this one? Heh heh heh. Really glad to hear they did Broken Arrow. So was there actually a new song played, or was that just assumed because Terrapin Ben couldn't read what he wrote down and/or forgot a couple of songs in the encore?
  14. I find it incredibly weird that they're playing in Ardsley, NY, which is a little town in Westchester County (northern NYC suburbs). I've never heard of LIFE. It's probably like a storefront or something. Really wish I could make it, but I've got another engagement in Montclair, NJ, that night.
  15. These shows have become a great tradition over the past few years, so it's great to see them happening again. Last year's shows were among my favorite shows of the year and the money goes to some great causes, so everybody should try to make it to one or both!
  16. I bet it's kinda like...a Clarion. (Sorry, couldn't resist. )
  17. Was there a chatty homeless guy hanging around there? Maybe he'll stop by later and buy himself a ticket to the show again. (About three people on here will probably get that reference. ) Have fun!
  18. I would definitely love to see this as well. If it's being screened film fest-style, I would hope that a DVD will come out at some point...
  19. No opening act. Further discussion in another thread that I'm too lazy to link right now.

Interesting, though I'd be slightly surprised if the actual capacity isn't bigger or if the show's not in a bigger room in the same complex or something. Seems like that'd be a pretty small indoor venue for them, even in Halifax. But if it is that small, cool for you!

Main difference is that the Nonesuch reissue is a gatefold, as per usual for the Nonesuch reissues. The original press isn't. And the artwork on the back is different. On the Nonesuch edition, the back cover is just a big picture of hands on a piano/keyboard with the track listing on the left. The original U.S. pressing has five smaller photos (bigger versions of which are inside the gatefold on the reissue) with album credits in two columns on the left and the track listing in one column on the right side. The front cover is also slightly different on the Nonesuch edition. They moved the ph

What venue would that be? I'm guessing either it actually holds more than 1000 people or is sold out.
  23. McCartney delivered the best line by far when, introducing the animated film category, said, "Animation isn't just for kids. It's also for adults.. who take drugs."
  24. Wow, that's super scary! Please pass along 'Get well soon' wishes from me...
