I've got a decent single ticket I can't use for the show at Centennial Hall in London next Wednesday, in case anyone's looking. It's Orchestra Row H, seat 20. A hard ticket, not a printout. I paid US$48.50 including all service fees, but I'll take US$40 if anyone's game. Send me a PM or e-mail me at paulsuwan@gmail.com.

I'm really glad this didn't happen during Wilco's performance there. Personally, though, Default was almost enough to cause me to start a one-man riot.

Despite the fact that it rained steadily through the first half or two thirds of the set, it was a pretty fun night all around. People were in a festive mood with the Winter Games getting underway and they showed some of the events on the two JumboTrons on either side of the stage during the changeovers between acts. The band played a little over 90 minutes, from 9 p.m. to about 10:35. The show ended a bit abruptly with no encore, though it would quickly become evident why no encore was possible. (There was a big end-of-the-night fireworks show -- I guess it's going to be a nightly event thr

An 11 p.m. curfew once again probably curtailed the set a little early, but a lot of variety for people who also went to the Portland show the previous night. One funny thing right off the top, for those who attended any shows last year when they played the "synthesizer" (MIDI?) band intros, tonight they weaved those into the middle of Wilco (the song). Not sure if it was an accident, as in Glenn hit the wrong spot on his sampler pad (my guess is it was planned) but at any rate, the band rolled with it and it was pretty hilarious. Mid-set, Jeff announced it was a special night because it

Fwiw, you probably meant Mr. Soul, though it wasn't actually the song Mr. Soul they did but just the start of Broken Arrow (which mentions Mr. Soul). Confusing, I know. Sounded good, though I would have loved to have heard Nels play it with the Rickenbacker he used at the MusiCares show. Tonight he just used his white and black 12-string Jerry Jones -- the one he usually uses on IATTBYH.

So I'm seeing Bonnaroo's tweets of bands for its lineup and with two out of every three, seemingly, I'm just like, 'Ugh.' Kings of Leon, Zac Brown Band, Dead Weather, Dave Matthews Band? Not that I would be going anyway, but compared to previous years it sounds not so great.

No one else is gonna bite on this one? Heh heh heh. Really glad to hear they did Broken Arrow. So was there actually a new song played, or was that just assumed because Terrapin Ben couldn't read what he wrote down and/or forgot a couple of songs in the encore?

I find it incredibly weird that they're playing in Ardsley, NY, which is a little town in Westchester County (northern NYC suburbs). I've never heard of LIFE. It's probably like a storefront or something. Really wish I could make it, but I've got another engagement in Montclair, NJ, that night.

These shows have become a great tradition over the past few years, so it's great to see them happening again. Last year's shows were among my favorite shows of the year and the money goes to some great causes, so everybody should try to make it to one or both!

I bet it's kinda like...a Clarion. (Sorry, couldn't resist. )

Was there a chatty homeless guy hanging around there? Maybe he'll stop by later and buy himself a ticket to the show again. (About three people on here will probably get that reference. ) Have fun!

I would definitely love to see this as well. If it's being screened film fest-style, I would hope that a DVD will come out at some point...

I remember that one!

No opening act. Further discussion in another thread that I'm too lazy to link right now.

Interesting, though I'd be slightly surprised if the actual capacity isn't bigger or if the show's not in a bigger room in the same complex or something. Seems like that'd be a pretty small indoor venue for them, even in Halifax. But if it is that small, cool for you!

Main difference is that the Nonesuch reissue is a gatefold, as per usual for the Nonesuch reissues. The original press isn't. And the artwork on the back is different. On the Nonesuch edition, the back cover is just a big picture of hands on a piano/keyboard with the track listing on the left. The original U.S. pressing has five smaller photos (bigger versions of which are inside the gatefold on the reissue) with album credits in two columns on the left and the track listing in one column on the right side. The front cover is also slightly different on the Nonesuch edition. They moved the ph

What venue would that be? I'm guessing either it actually holds more than 1000 people or is sold out.

McCartney delivered the best line by far when, introducing the animated film category, said, "Animation isn't just for kids. It's also for adults.. who take drugs."

Wow, that's super scary! Please pass along 'Get well soon' wishes from me...

Looking for Jeff quotes on influences or bands he likes

Yep, that's the entry from Listen To This. -
Based on what I've read in this thread and other threads in this forum, people are confident or are at least speculating about them adding another show in Richmond, a show in Brooklyn and another show in Boston. I mean, why don't they just add another show in Tampa and something in between Concord and Hartford as well and make it 21 shows in 21 days? I suppose it's technically possible, but that's not really how Wilco tours anymore. They're not a bunch of 20-year-old kids jumping in a van and playing for gas money. They do take a day off every now and then -- usually at least a few days dur

It's about 10 years old now, but there's a book called Listen To This in which Jeff and a ton of other cool artists cite records that influenced them. Here's a link to the listing on Amazon. I also remember a short Spin feature on "Records That Changed My Life" from a few years back in which Jeff mentions a few pivotal records for him. Can't find a link -- I have a physical copy of it somewhere -- but I'm pretty sure that among the records he cited were the Minutemen's "What Makes a Man Start Fires?" and Slovenly's "Riposte" along with "Between The Buttons" by the Stones. -
The only club I've ever known to buy back a ticket from you was the Bottom Line in New York (RIP). I remember doing that once or twice. You'd go to the box office and they'd give you your money back and then resell the ticket. I do wonder what prevented people from "buying like crazy and then returning like crazy." I think it just wasn't really that kind of place. And it was before the Internet and service fees and automated ticket-getting software made things get out of hand. Of course it's also partly why they're no longer in business. But to your point, B, it does seem like with the adv

Yeah, I was actually there for that one. My first time at the Ryman. As far as the in-state mailing address thing goes, I guess it works for the Pabst and I understand what they're trying to do. But it definitely is a pain for out-of-staters. Having had plans change and important things come up, I just appreciate any system where you're able to be flexible without being penalized for it. (For example, why every airline can't operate like Southwest with respect to change fees is beyond me. Obviously most airlines are trying scrape as much $$$ out of you as possible.) My point with respect

You're going to get your ticket, I can pretty much assure you. Or at least you won't be out any money. StubHub makes sellers give a credit card to guarantee tickets, so if they're fake tickets or they somehow don't live up to their end of the bargain, then the seller would be liable. I've actually had decent experiences on the few occasions I've used StubHub (both buying and selling, though I've never done it with Wilco tickets). I'd much rather sell an extra ticket on there versus Craigslist where people can -- and do -- flake at the last minute and screw you over. As far as the morality of
