  1. On my phone it looked like July 1- and I do not keep track of the days of the week during the summer because they don't matter much... my bad...
  2. I looked on the site and couldn't find the video. Hmm
  3. The mono outbreak of 2011 is to date the sickest I have ever been. I contracted it from a coworker (we were really bad about eating and drinking after each other). I went to the doctor about a week after she got sick and found out it was mono. Before I went to the doc I spent an entire week in bed doing nothing but running a fever. I couldn't eat or drink anything. To top it off I was taking asprin for the fever which is a biiiiig no no with mono because the liver enzymes are all outta whack and the asprin makes it worse. So I go into the doctor to get the blood test to confirm. Luckily my gra
  4. Yikes! I left mine in the car for a day, and was worried about it warping so I stacked a bunch of heavy stuff on top of it to keep it flat- seems to have worked.
  5. He's also currently on the road with Tweedy- or he was... pretty sure he was Darin's bass tech. I saw him a bunch at the ryman, but never said anything to him.
  6. Hi guys! Just now getting around to reading this thread- I tried to reply on my phone after the show, but somewhere along the way my response got lost- damn technology. Anyway, this was only my 2nd time seeing a Jeff Tweedy solo show, and my husband's first time, so we went it with high hopes, and they hopes we had were exceeded by leaps and bounds. The new material was really stunning, though I did cheat a little and listen to the Mountain Jam recording, the presentation in Nashville was everything I hoped it would be. Really great stuff, and even more excited now to hear the record. We we
  7. Oh, also a one legged crowd surfer fell directly on me and my friend, my husband got his pants ripped, and my friend almost lost her toe nail. It was a rough night. Atlanta is a rough shit hole sometimes. But definitely falling down into that shit was terrifying. Needless to say I am ecstatic to see Jeff Tweedy at the Ryman on Tuesday. That crowd is going to be so tame!
  8. So I went to a pop punk show on Friday and fell down trying to get out of the crowd- they were pushing so hard, and I have to say it was the scariest thing that's ever happened to me at a show. I got kicked and stepped on for about 30 seconds. The bands were still good though.
  9. My guiltiest of guilty pleasures is Nine Days... "this is the story of a girl..." you know that band...
  10. Saw Kishi Bashi last night and he was phenomenal as always. Next week I have Say Anything on Friday The week after that I have tweedy and Old 97's. Stoked about all those shows.
  11. I was bummed too to see that announcement. At least we have something to look forward to in October.
  12. Did anyone record the webcast? I missed it cos I was at work save for a few snippets from a new song and part of "New Madrid". Hoping somebody captured it for posterity.
  13. Seconded. That kid's got drum chops for sure.
  14. Also the album title is great. I feel like this song could fit in with the tunes on that Wilco Book disc- it's got that same kind of monochord buzzy vibe... if that makes sense? Excited to hear more- hope they drop a new song every week til the record is out.
  15. Those background vocals are great! Now to learn all the words before the 24th.
  16. I went google crazy and tried to find other racoonist tunes.... nothing. i hope it's more along those lines/loose fur... we'll see in a few days. Though part of me wonders if they might leave the new material out of the road case downloads... because the record hasn't come out yet and stuff. Another part of me hopes the record is available for purchase from the shows and they're just not saying anything about it. Going totally DIY
  17. What Racoonists song were you listening to? The only one I heard on the 7" with Deerhoof was basically ALL guitar and drums... Granted, it was more "punk" and less "melodic" than most Wilco tunes- is there another track out there that I've not heard?
  18. If it's billed currently by the festival as Wilco, why all the sudden would it change to just Tweedy- it wouldn't make sense.
  19. After an extremely frustrating time getting tickets we ended up with 2 very nice seats at the Ryman. I was ready to throw my computer through the window by the end of it though. It's a bit disappointing to see almost 300 seats on stub hub for that show. That's almost 15% of the venue.
  20. I don't think any of the tunes are autobiographical except for "Longer Than You've Been Alive"- I think it's more these songs are about extremely messed up narrators. The whole genesis for the record happened in Nashville where Rhett was on a co-write with a guy named John McElroy. The dude told Rhett immediately "I looked you up on youtube, and I think you're audience would like it if you just say the word "fuck" a lot". They wrote the song "Nashville" on this new record. I think there's several outstanding tunes on the new record. Murry's contribution is excellent. As a whole it's bett
  21. They really do amp it up with the new tunes live. I got to go to a private party of sorts at the Jack Daniel's Distillery last weekend and the 97's were the band playing. It was quite fun to hear the new tunes in that setting. Interestingly enough, the last couple records have been recorded mostly live with very little overdubbing at all. Especially compared to "Drag It Up" and Rhett's first 2 solo records.
  22. I am extremely tickled so many people are listing "Most Messed Up".
  23. Lucky Maine folks. I would probably camp out all day to see Tweedy if he played any of the free concert series around here.
  24. Yeah- I keep pulling not so good seats now. I don't wanna pay for the last row of the venue. Especially when there's another pre-sale tomorrow and On Sale fri. Better chance to get a good seat.
