  1. and by reading this thread i've learned that roadie's name is josh. he was really cool in atlanta. nice dude! this setlist.... wow
  2. why let them get under your skin? family nicknames stick, and i think they're cute (for instance, my sister is known to close family and friends as Bob)
  3. Pushing and shoving your way to the front is wrong, because people wait in a line in a nice orderly fashion to be up front. It's courteous and respectful. I have never, ever pushed my way up front to a show.
  4. I think it's fun to do, because being up front really enhances my concert experience. It makes waiting exciting and sometimes you get to see the band before the show. I think the longest I've waited before a Wilco gig was 6 hours, and it wasn't GA. I was just trying to say hi to jeff... didn't manage to that show. But it was still fun trying, and it gave my friends a good story to tell when they want to show how ridiculous I get about WIlco.
  5. very cool thanks for posting. the thing about jeff doing the weather is hilarious. http://www.wgntv.com/videogallery/66789435/News/Wilco-front-man-forecasts-the-weather
  6. welch79, If you're looking for things to do in Chatt before the show there's a lot going on downtown. It's way smaller than Nashville, but I like it. How was the Bridgestone show? My sister went to a show at a baseball park in Knoxville, and she had a great time. I've only seen the Avetts one other time at a small theatre here in Chatt (missed Wilco for that one!) Really looking forward to it!
  7. ELS.... that's not dorky! That's awesome! I too started playing guitar young (11) and I'm 24 now. The first time I met Jeff, I said something like "Oh my gosh, when I first started playing guitar I started jumping off my amps like you used to when you were in the Primitives!!" he was really funny about it, and said something like "My knees can't handle all that now!"
  8. Just sent you a message. I missed the part where you were looking for $500 though... if I weren't a college student and only working part time. *sigh* I wrote so many damned haikus trying to win that thing!
  9. I have better luck talking to the band pre-show than after. Try the afternoons.... around soundcheck time.
  10. So far, I haven't seen any on broker sites. I checked. Only 2 for double face on craigslist
  11. Yeah, I don't really think I'm gonna say anything. It sucks, but I don't know them well enough to really step in and try to intervene.
  12. I don't want to get to personal here on VC, but the other day at work I ran into a coworker partaking in illegal substances while on the job. I proceeded to ignore them and go about my business, but now I'm nervous, wondering if I should tell the HR dept or what to do... Have any of you guys been in a similar situation?
  13. The online sale for the avett brothers show in Chattanooga apparently sold out today in 27 seconds. I got up at 7 this morning and stood in line at the box office for almost 3 hours before the on sale and managed to get a ticket. Seems pretty standard practice now that there's a 4 ticket limit. But, the thing that was astonishing to me was that the thing sold out in 27 seconds. That's ridiculous. Has it been that fast for Wilco? Is anybody from VC coming to the show? I'm really looking forward to it. Saw them back in 09 and it was awesome.
  14. sorry, somebody else said that it was the band. wasn't trying to attack you or anything
  15. It would be neat if they did, but I doubt it. Wasn't it released on April 23? I can't remember, but I think that was the day. I remember when I got a leaked copy in my mailbox from someone on the board. I listened to it for hours and hours and thought the strings on "Jesus Etc." were the coolest thing I had ever heard.
  16. now that's awesome. see, that's the band & venue being really cool instead of just allowing there to be empty space. knowing that it was a band-sanctioned idea should let the folks who are steamed about it feel better? maybe? having obstructed view seats can be a bit of a bummer (had them for Nashville night 1), but if you just resign yourself to the fact that you can still hear everything just fine, it's okay. guess it depends on viewpoint. though, when i came across that tumblr post from that kid, it was really sweet because they were so excited about being upgraded. as long as i
  17. For what it's worth, sometimes I look up Wilco on tumblr, and found a post from someone who got moved up to the front: a man who worked there came up to us and was like “Are you two pretty big Wilco fans?” and we were like “Uhm, YES!” and he was like “Well Would it be okay if I moved you up to the first row as long as you guys are excited and help get the band pumped up so they play an amazing show for us?!” and we were like “YES!” annnnnd so we ended up in THE FRONT F****NG ROW FOR THE WHOLE SHOW.
  18. At one point I had a really really old wilco shirt that was autographed, and I was a dumb young kid in love, and gave it to the guy I was dating. Biggest gift related mistake I ever made.
  19. I have a hard time believing it was the band's doing. They don't do thing like that. I do believe they upgraded the people when the projector was taking up their seats. That I believe. I don't believe they're taking $5 extra for early admit. No way.
  20. I also have one that a VC'er made me, and a hoodie too.
  21. That's awesome. Does anyone know where you can hear his opera? Did he release recordings of it?
