  1. J.S. Bach sounds just like Wilco, only slower and without the annoyingness of lyrics.
  2. yeah, they played the Ryman 2 years ago. I guess it makes sense that the Atlanta venue is a bit bigger cos there are a ton of major cities within driving distance. I bet there will be almost as many out of town folks as actual Atlanta folks.
  3. I WISH they would have played the Ryman again. It was AMAZING and I think capacity was a little less than 1,500
  4. There was a nice review of it in the Entertainment Weekly today. They got a better rating than any other records I think, which isn't really saying a lot cos it's EW, but still cool. I like it way better than "Ga". Some of the vocal mixes kinda spooked me at first listening to it alone with headphones in an empty house.

    Big Star

It took me a long time to "get" Big Star. A teacher of mine in high school made me a copy of "#1 Record/Radio City" and I listened to it, but didn't really get into it until I heard Elliott Smith's version of "Thirteen" then went back and re-discovered them, and now am mildly obsessed.
  6. i heard it in the grocery store this summer too! Really weird/cool. Agreed on the VH1 hit thing, especially cos the plugged the hell outta Feist's "1234"
  7. So, would I be right in thinking the ATL venue is one of the bigger ones they are playing on the tour? It seats almost 7,000
  8. wow i laughed really hard at the penguin taco one. mostly cos i get to work with penguins, and the thought of one of them becoming a taco is hilarious at 9:09am
  9. he was totally awesome for sure! the girl from TN that jumps off bridges made me smile cos i know people who are like her. and she said "arrow-plane" which might perpetuate a stereotype, but still made me giggle.
  10. I enjoy all of their top 5 records. That Animal Collective record was a real grower through the moth of December for me. Interesting that the Wilco record, and the Avett's record are side by side on that list too.
  11. i'm sad i missed the chance to see him play last year at a literal hole-in-the-wall spot here in chattanooga. blood visions is a really fun record.
  12. that is a cool song! wow. when did VC get the play-a-song feature! that's neat-o
  13. i enjoy the micah p hinson one because his voice is awesome, and you wouldn't think a voice like that would come from a dude like him. i've got my laptop hooked up to my surround sound listening to music, and the car noises from the cab are making my dog crazy! then it would be called the black vw bus sessions!
  14. glad it was a good night! can you tell us what the secret word was?
  15. how can you NOT love a sitcom about spunky old ladies? really! one summer Golden Girls was ALL my sister, cousin, and i would watch in between my band camp rehearsals. Mythbusters is great. Dirty Jobs is gross, but good because Mike Rowe is kinda dreamy. Edit- Malcom! How did I forget that one, oh man, that's one show me and my dad liked to watch together when I was in middle school.
  16. wow. so i've looked at that thing before and never realized that my great grandpa is on one of those mountain music compilations Jeff's talking about. how freakin' awesome.
  17. voted again. also about to post the link on facebook and twitter
  18. Breaking Bad Law and Order: CI (seasons 1 through 4) Little House on the Prairie Sponge Bob Square Pants Golden Girls King of the Hill Family Guy Futurama House
  19. i am going to look for that one today. wrestling with Infinite Jest currently. Tried to start it back in September and failed miserably.
