I was listening to "Quitter" today (a song off Rubberneck), and it actually reminded me of "Breed".

And Nirvana's songs are? That was my point. Again, that was my point. The songs I posted didn't sound any more like the bands I tied them to than they sound like Nirvana. If all you've heard is Rubberneck, and the radio singles from that album, then that might be what you hear. I don't. [quote name='Crow Daddy Magnus

Sure, they have some distorted guitars, though they did/do not depend on distortion to nearly the extent that Nirvana did. That's pretty much where the similarities end, as far as I can tell. The Toadies' songs are a bit more tuneful, straight ahead rock songs than Nirvana's, and Todd Phillips's voice doesn't really sound anything like Kurt Cobain's. So they have a little bit of a soft/loud/soft thing going on - they likely got that from the Pixies, as has been said. Many of the songs on Rubberneck (which is likely where the misguided comparison comes from) were written before Nevermind was re

However, I disagree on principle that it can suck to be someone who makes his living playing in a rock band, based on the fact that he has to talk about his new album sometimes. It can absolutely suck to be someone who makes his living playing in a rock band, for other reasons.

I'm saying that if that's the worst thing Jeff Tweedy has to worry about, it does not suck to be Jeff Tweedy.

I'm a fan. Rubberneck and Hell Below, Stars Above are both pretty good. Very angsty, though. He had a rough childhood, I gather.

From working in a wine store, and knowing how much we mark up wine, I can say the markup on wine in restaurants is pretty fucking obscene. I'm also an overtipper. If a server gets less than 20% from me, he has gone out of his way to piss me off. -
This should open some eyes.......

So in the face of a giant international economic catastrophe, the solution is not to work together with other countries on a global solution? -

So because some cops abuse their power, and that one dude may have killed his wives, cops are as much of a problem as criminals? -

We use DocuPrinter. Looks like licenses are $19 each or $219 for 25.

Seriously, why would anyone do that when it's already out?

This video has already been posted and discussed. Is it the best Obama video you've never seen?

Yeah, that wouldn't stick out at all.

Calling someone brainwashed because they disagree with you is an ad hominem, just so you know.
