bobbob1313
FIU has been a division I team for all of 2 or 3 years. We have no expectations. I predict 2 or 3 wins this season. I just hope we beat our bitter rivals, the Florida Atlantic University Owls in the annual Shula Bowl. The all time series is 1-3 in their favor, but we beat them 53-6 last season, so I'm hoping we can begin a nice run. We also play UM for the first time. I'm just hoping we don't lose by more than 3 touchdowns.
WITHIK
I personally love Vanderbilt. vandy is adoreable. It is like the lost puppy of the SEC, but every once in a while they bite someone on the ass and surprise them. As far as the Tide goes i have no idea what are team really looks like. I have been to busy with other things to keep up. I know our offense will be questionable at best and I think Darby (our all time rush leader) got hurt yesterday in practice. Mr. Kinsley
Sure, my team may have just lost 2 heisman winners to the NFL in one season after our bitter defeat to the evil longhorns, but we still get more camera time on the E! network then all the other teams combined!! Also, this is my senior year and we're going to win against that Irish team for the 4th time in a row. This time we won't even do any RB pushing. Alright! A fellow Trojan!* Fight On!! *No, I didn't go there. My wife did and I've been a fan since I was a kid. Back then I just liked the fancy white horse.

mpolak21
The Mountaineers are ranked number 5 in the AP poll, yet pretty much every college football article I've read expects them to choke. The biggest game of the year is at Louisville, who WVU ralled from 17 down to beat in triple overtime last year (and I was there!), though Maryland, Pitt and Mississippi State might give them some trouble. I think they're a year away from being a serious national title contender, but the schedule is pretty easy this year and anything under 10 wins would be a disapointment. --Mike
bobbob1313
Pitt isn't that good this year. They have Dave Wannstedt still.
watch me fall
Ha! Ha! You know I was directing that at you! It looks like the starter will be the 5th year senior Joe T. that played against Florida last year. I think a lot of freshman will see playing time this year. We're already getting hit with a lot of pre-season injuries, etc. Darn, that's too bad. I kinda wish we didn't always play you guys at the beginning of the season. Would be interesting to play maybe at the end of the season, just to mix things up a bit.

I figure if SC becomes a bigger rival in the coming years, and I'm sure they will I wouldn't be surprised if SC wasn't moved deeper into the schedule. We'll see. I think this will be an ok season for us. I'm just hoping we keep a winning record.
MrRain422
I just glanced over Michigan's schedule. Why is Ball State so late in the year? Usually, once the Big Ten season has started, they don't play anymore non-conference games. After Iowa, they play Northwestern, Indiana, and Ball State, before Ohio State. I sort of feel like maybe they won't be prepared for the Buckeyes after 3 weak games? I don't know...it's probably too early to worry about OSU because the season will be lost by the time we're done with Notre Dame anyway.

It always gets me some weird looks out here in Connecticut, where college football is on par with the Professional Bowlers League in terms of cultural-significance.

MrRain422
So Michigan just landed one of our top in-state recruits. Dammit! Hail!!!!! Of course Carr will probably misuse him and turn him into a total bust, but for now, I'll do my best to enjoy it. Edited August 25, 2006 by MrRain422

darkstar
be careful in overlooking the sugardores of vanderbilt. they are a feisty crew. nah......they won't do shit, not in the SEC anyway. They get no support here either. You know how Nashvegas is...the HS teams get more coverage. Last year when they started out great they got a lot of attention, then as they flopped the coverage went away. 'Ol Hope Hines and the rest just keep kissing UT's ass and the rest gets pushed back behind the NASCAR stories.

I may be wrong, but I think this is the first year all schools can schedule 12 games. As the schedules are set a few years in advance, the Ball State week was originally supposed to be Michigan's open week. As much as I would have loved a rematch of the 2005 Rose Bowl against Texas or a match-up with a strong SEC team (sorry, Vandy doesn't count), I think U of M will be scheduling a late season MAC team to fill up the byes for the next few years. MrRain422
I expressed my concern to a friend of mine who had the opposite reaction to it. He thought that the three consecutive lighter games should allow them to spend more time preparing for Ohio State. Hopefully he's right, but I have my doubts.
mountain bed
Not sure I like the pressure of the preseason #1 ranking, but here we go: Popular opinion suggests that OSU will be an offensive juggernaut this year. I'll believe it when I see it since I've been watching close-to-the-vest, field-goal-you-to-death Tresselball for the past several years--but hey, it appears to be working. If the offense comes through this year as advertised, I'll do naked cartwheels to Columbus and back!On the news yesterday there was a listing of America's "Drunkest Cities".Of course,Milwaukee was #1...but coming in at #3 (drum roll)Columbus,OH . Which explains Buckeye fans (sorry,Wheelco) Go Irish!!!!

MrRain422
Notre Dame is the Yankees of college football. They have, by far the largest group of fans who are obsessed with them. They also have the largest group of people who absolutely hate them. The are America's team.
watch me fall
So the first week of the season is finally here! I don't know what I'm more excited about. SC's first game, my brother's wedding, or Kirk Herbstreit!

I'm indifferent towards the Irish. Most of my loathing is directed in the general direction of Michigan--with the rest dispursed among Florida St, Miami, USC, and a few others. The Domers? Eh, I'll root for them when they play Michigan or USC, the rest of the time I don't really care. Nice Fiesta Bowl game last year, tho.
