Nonlinear Nonfiction
I'm seeing Dylan in Madison, Wisc. on Halloween night and, naturally, I've been following his setlists on this current tour. I've never followed a tour of his this closely but i've followed his career close enough to think that this might be one of the most prolific arrangements of his songs that he has ever attempted to play in a single tour. It's like he wants to play every song he ever recorded at least once... Anyone agree/disagree/know this for a fact? How does the man remember all those damn lyrics?! Sir Stewart
He doesn't! "One last note. Bob kept messing up the vocals - it was pretty funny. The band was just watching him trying to figure out where he was goingnext. But he always recovered - pretty cool. "That's from a review of his San Diego show. From Bob Pagel's site, of course.I hope he wears his Bob Dylan mask at your show.
LouieB
I am seeing him Saturday night. As long as the songs sound vaguely like they are supposed to I will be happy. LouieB
Lammycat
He was in Denver Tues. night (had to dump my tix last minute to watch the kids) and he got a very good review from a local music critic who's opinion I respect. His only "gripe" was that the show was relatively short. He apparently did "Joey," a song I dig a bunch. The reviewer made it seem as if Dylan doesn't do this one much these days and said it seemed a lot of folks in the crowd did not expect it/know. Apparently, the tunes that got the most response from the crowd were 3 tracks off the new album.

Mr. Heartbreak
Considering the fact that the last three songs appear to be ... 14. Thunder On The Mountain 15. Like A Rolling Stone 16. All Along The Watchtower ... for every show, my answer would be "not really."
Sir Stewart
He opened with "Lenny Bruce" the other night. I don't think I've ever actually heard that song.

Analogman
Although he is my own personal JC, I saw him back in November 14, 2001 and that was enough. Somebody Touched Me (acoustic) It Ain't Me, Babe (acoustic) (Bob on harp) It's Alright, Ma (I'm Only Bleeding) (acoustic) Searching For A Soldier's Grave (acoustic) (Larry on mandolin)(song by Johnnie Wright, Jim Anglin and Jack Anglin) Tweedle Dee & Tweedle Dum Just Like A Woman (Larry on pedal steel and Bob on harp) I'll Be Your Baby Tonight (Larry on pedal steel) High Water (For Charley Patton) (Larry on banjo and Charlie on slide guitar) Don't Think Twice, It's All Right (acoustic) (Bob on harp) Tangled Up In Blue (acoustic) John Brown (acoustic) (Larry on bouzouki) Summer Days (Tony on standup bass) Sugar Baby (Tony on standup bass) Drifter's Escape (Bob on harp) Rainy Day Women #12 & 35 (Larry on steel guitar) (encore) Country Pie Like A Rolling Stone Forever Young (acoustic) Honest With Me (Larry on slide guitar) Blowin' In The Wind (acoustic) All Along The Watchtower
run_run_run
Apparently, the tunes that got the most response from the crowd were 3 tracks off the new album.I think its great the crowd also knows and loves his new stuff, there not just there for a best of Dylan show. Well he is mixing up the 1st 13 a lot more then he used to... People want to here songs like Rolling Stone and Watchtower so he plays them. I mean people are paying $50+ to see him, they want to see the classics live. Considering the fact that the last three songs appear to be ... 14. Thunder On The Mountain 15. Like A Rolling Stone 16. All Along The Watchtower ... for every show, my answer would be "not really."Give it up he is mixing up the 1st 13 a lot more then he used to. Look people are paying good money to see him and they want to see Rolling Stone and Watchtower so he plays them. froggie
yeah, they've been quite varied lately compared to the static sets of a few months. and noty forgetting the 'day of the week' sets last year. some of those tunes from the last couple of shows are very rarely played and he threw them all in one show
mountain bed
He opened with "Lenny Bruce" the other night. mountain bed
I don't have a shitload of DVDs,but the VHS is an entirely other story.I have way too much shit from the early-mid '80's that NEEDS to be transferred to a different medium. They've been well taken care of but 20-25 years...tape..I need to sit down & watch em more often. El Picador
How does the man remember all those damn lyrics?! How do we know he remembers the lyrics? I saw him last weekend in San Diego and he was VERY hard to understand. The show was great though. He played a bunch of Highway 61 and some great new songs. It was a short show and I didn't think the setlist was much different than the last couple times I've seen him. Glad I went though.
froggie
people in the audiences have noticed that little pedal steel in front of his piano acts as a good lyric stand, and they've seen raodies bring out the lyrics before the show.
