bobbob1313
there is no way i am missing one note of teh wilco, but i may not insist on trying to get a great spot. festival things being what they are. You are VIP, no? I'm going to see where the bleacher seats they have are and I may just do that for the Decemberists and Wilco. I'm not sure, as I would hate to be so far away and excluded, but it may be my best chance to not miss much of either and still not get an awful spot.
ms. yvon
good thinking! i remember the bleachers being off to the side. maybe a bleacher spot for decemberists...run over to see wilco from the ground. hmm. now packing!

LenF
b2--you are NOT allowed to bring in open bottles of water. they have FREE (if smelly) water all over the festival. if you are bringing a refillable bottle, it must be empty to bring it in--the first time you enter the festival you'll be given a wrist band that you'll wear all weekend, so after day 1, no need to remember a ticket! BRING A HAT that will give you some respite from the sun. this is NOT AN OPTION. rilly. you've got the VIP package so that will cover some snackage and drinks for you, but bringing dough for food is a good idea. --i've mentioned it before but: POWDERED GATORADE. if you don't have this, knock on my door, i'll be holding. --sunscreen --re: cell reception: don't count on this as your communication. the lines are typically SUPER busy and it is difficult to get a call in. set up a meeting time with your friends, etc. ahead of time. --light rain jacket or poncho. again: seems superfluous, but you'll be SO glad to have it when it starts raining. --and just in case: a couple aspirin or headache reliver of your choice. in a little plastic bag. rain and whatnot, you know. All great suggestions, add... -sunglasses-pair of sandals (wear something with more ankle support... switch to sandals and back as needed)-extra pair of socks/extra t-shirt (especially if rain is in the forecast)-roll of toilet paper (in case they run out)-hand sanitizer-saline if you wear contacts/eye drops (very dusty)-something for upset stomachs-if you don't have one, try to pick up a crazy creek chair or similar (you can find them cheaper, but here's a link: http://www.crazycreek.com/interior.cfm?pag...ail&item=1) Sounds like overkill but all this stuff can fit in a pretty small backpack and most can be found cheap at a drugstore. It would suck to have something that can be easily remedied ruin part of the festival. Have fun!
Analogman
Older fans want amenities at music fests By KRISTIN M. HALL, Associated Press Writer 2 hours, 17 minutes ago NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Warren Weitzer is 40 years old, and there's no way he's going to share a portable toilet and camp out with thousands of other people just to see The Police perform at the Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival. "I don't do that. I won't," said Weitzer, a businessman from Syracuse, N.Y. Instead, he'll have access to a real bathroom, enjoy free and discounted food and drinks and then he'll be driven to a hotel 30 miles away from the festival site in Tennessee. "I will go VIP or not go at all," Weitzer said. Bonnaroo draws 80,000 people to a farm in rural Manchester, 65 miles south of Nashville, but not all of them want to sweat through four days of music under sometimes inclement weather, crammed into the crowded tent city. Summer music festivals attract fans like Weitzer by offering special VIP packages, promising a hassle-free weekend for an extra price, sometimes two to three times more than regular tickets. Music fans will pay extra for two reasons
darkstar
Gonna be hot hot hot this weekend. Forecasts say low 90's with very little chance for rain (we are in a drought here in TN). You may get a pop up storm but they are pretty much saying no rain. Y'all stay hydrated now. Everyone have a good time.
bobbob1313
I for one am glad there's gonna be no rain. Moisture + walking around all day= destroyed skin. A-man, that article must've been written about my mom...
