Analogman
Letter from PaulThe following letter from Paul McCartney is being released Monday relating to his new album "Memory Almost Full," due June 5 on Hear Music, the first release by the Starbucks and Concord Music Group-owned label. BY PAUL McCARTNEY I actually started this album, Memory Almost Full, before my last album Chaos And Creation In The Backyard (released September 2005). The first recording session was back in the autumn of 2003 at Abbey Road with my touring band and producer David Kahne. I was right in the middle of it when I began talking with Nigel Godrich about a brand new project (which became Chaos And Creation In The Backyard). When I was just finishing up everything concerned with Chaos and had just got the Grammy nominations (2006) I realised I had this album to go back to and finish off. So I got it out to listen to it again, wondering if I would enjoy it, but actually I really loved it. All I did at first was just listen to a couple of things and then I began to think,
chisoxjtrain
is this the same david kahne that dumped wilco?
Welsh Rich
Blimey, he's got Gondry to direct his new video... this could be interesting, though that track he had streaming on his website didn't grab me as much as the stuff off Chaos...
Col. Hapablap
is this the same david kahne that dumped wilco? I believe it is. He's worked with McCartney in the past.
jc4prez
I believe it is. He's worked with McCartney in the past. yeah they made taht crap diving rain
Vacant Horizon
yeah they made taht crap diving rain yeah, driving rain was just terrible. it just amazes me how these artists keep churning out junk. and not just junk, but junk that takes a lot of work. lyrics, arrangements, instrumentation, recording, production-all for crap. it's like the last trey anastasio cds. you could tell lots of work went into it and it was complete shit. as well as the new son volt etc. i could go on. So Long
I actually really liked Driving Rain. I'd say 80% of those songs were pretty solid. Chaos was so/so. I'm really looking forward to this one.
Somnambulist
I liked Chaos and Creation much better than Driving Rain, which I feel was just a slight step up from the horrible Off the Ground. The one tune I really liked off Driving Rain was Heather but somehow I don't think that song will make it's way into McCartney's favorites.
TimRoss
I have some news on Memory Almost Full... It is Driving Rain II, only not as good. For all of the denials to the contrary, it certainly sounds like leftovers from Driving Rain. Disappointing in a lot of ways after Chaos.

MattZ
There's a really interesting feature article in this week's New Yorker on McCartney. I recommend checking it out if you can. Unfortunately, the article is not online.
Welsh Rich
Shame... normally the New Yorker put their articles on line. Also, Paul McCartney dissed the welsh this week http://www.contactmusic.com/news.nsf/artic...country_1032580 so he's not, at the moment, my best friend

bigideas
so that post on here about the last great Beatles track being released the same date as Macca's new album was a hoax?

Calexico
I watched him on Later on BBC last night and it was just rank. Meandering,no value rubbish. Even the version of Lady Madonna stunk up the place. I appreciate his value and place in history but the music he has made over the last 20 or more years has been drivel.
