Sir Stewart
yeah, well, I always hope for the best, and true, there's a few beatz that make me walk with a limp, it felt like a quiet surprise, but I think that repeated listens will prove that not much here, although a good effort to get back, in the end, we may end up only finding this is that cheap bin with the hole punch in the case. But, that being said, I have steep expectations when it comes to this genre, and it's prolly gonna take a miracle to keep my interest in a rap record these days, so do take a peek-a-loo for yourself, and may God have Mercy on your soul. Thank you for your time.

Chendizzle
'love to a monster' was also on the overboard & down ep. i'm listening to the bonus will sheff demo disc. oh my word... As much as I love the Stage Names, the bonus disc left me cold. Only thing that seemed different was Our Life, everything else seemed to be just faithful acoustic renditions with percussion and stuff. I guess I was hoping for rougher sounding demos. B - in answer to your question - on the back of the lyrics booklet for the Stage Names, the "With love to" notes lists Bridgette Andersen and Shannon Michelle Wisley. So - who the hell are they? http://jound.com/board/viewtopic.php?t=148...asc&start=0 Bridgette Anderson is the real life subject of a movie called Savannah Smiles. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bridgette_Andersen The movie is a "feel-good" family film about a girl who runs away with a couple of bungling criminals and ends up getting love and attention from them (which she never got from her parents). In real life, Bridgette died of drug overdose. committed suicide at a young age. With this connection, people have assumed the song is about this actress specifically. Admittedly, I've never seem the film, so I'm not sure if there are any other parallels with the song. But I wondered why Will referred to "Shannon" in the first and second verses. I searched the net and found information about Shannon Wilsey, a porn star who used the stage name "Savannah." Shannon picked up the stage named based on her love for the "Savannah Smiles" movie. As it turns out, Shannon killed herself (committed suicide) tragically in 1994. The second song, Starry Stares is most definitely about Savannah the porn star as much as the first first seems to be. I love it when bands do stuff like this. And I love that demo disc. You have a copy of Starry Stares? Big Perm
Okkervil River "The Stage Names" I avoided every leak and sample of this album. Finally go to sit down with it yesterday, and I think it's great. I think I've shared this story here, I used to work with Will, right as this band was coming together, and before any record was released. It's just awesome to see how far they've come and how they remain an important band for today. I love it, what more can I say?
