Bubs101
Tough Luck to Arsenal I thought for sure that last header was going in. Oh well AC will take care of business at home. Cos AC have done such a great job at getting it done at home so far this season Just realised this thread had been here so Let me introduce myself. I'm a Chelsea and Juve fan (A Vialli thing) with a gos worship that surpasses even that for Jeff Tweedy of Francesco Totti
Griddles
Well AC has never lost to an English team at the San Siro, and most of the guys on the team will know this so there will be extra incentive. Also last year they returned home with the same exact score line and won the whole thing. So yes they will get the job done. Chelsea? an early fan (pre-Abramovich.) or new? Juve? I do not think we can even engage in civil discussion about the seire a.Totti, one of the best players in the world over the last 4 years. That said welcome to the fruckus. Jay
Arsenal don't have to win at the San Siro. If the game ends 1-1, then Arsenal go through on away goals. Though I wish Adebayor's header would have gone in, it was huge to not concede an away goal. It makes Arsenal's task at Milan easier, but of course not easy by any means. But if Arsenal can score first then they will sit back knowing it will take 2 goals to beat them. Overall I was happy with how Arsenal played. Flamini was great and Senderos even played really well. I cannot wait for the return leg.
Griddles
While Arsenal do not need to win, may I remind you of last year again, when Manchester United could have progressed with just a 0-0 tie after winning the home leg. AC then turned in, what among Milan fans, is called 'The Perfect Game. Yes Arsenal played a very good game and Senderos played surprisingly well, I will say I was giddy when he came in hoping that AC would press at him. Oh well the questions will be answered in two weeks.
Jay
Eduardo has a broken left ankle. They wouldn't show a replay because they said it was too graphic. What a huge bummer. Van Persie needs to get fit soon.
Calexico
Poor Eduardo but jeebus, someone should beat the head off Clichy on the bus home! What a fuck up! You wouldn't see something like that in schoolboy football.
Griddles
That break is even worse than either of Cissie's breaks. Mostly because it was someone sliding in. I agree with Wenger that Taylor should be put out for a while. I saw one replay where they stopped and zoomed in on the ankle, it looked like the bone was coming out both sides. I think you are correct. A double compound break. Terrible pics of it.
Doug C
Double compound it is all right. That was some scary looking video. My wife the RN was giving me some POV. Any Bolton fans here?
Twisted Acres
I'm an Arsenal fella myself... Eduardo's injury was as painful to watch as Theisman's was in the NFL some 25 years ago
Doug C
I immediately thought of Theisman's injury and the pictures too. Just as gruesome but higher up. Did you read the UK specialist that said if not for the quick work by the physios, Eduardo would have lost his foot?
Twisted Acres
Thank goodness they were on top of things.

Griddles
Bolton fans: Who is going to score your goals? (I may have asked this before, but the question remains.) Also good luck in the fight for for the UEFA Cup.
Doug C
Present and correct.Fantastic! How did you come to be a Trotters supporter? When I got FSC on digital cable about 5 years ago, I wanted to be more than a read about games online supporter and really follow a team. I didn't want one of the big 4 (now it may be big 3!!) because most Yanks choose one of them or Barca, Real, Inter, Milan or some such. I personally think that it is too easy to support a team from afar that is always in Champions League, etc. I wanted to feel real. I liked Allardyce's style and picked Bolton. One of their games seems to be on FSC every other week. I am hooked on Bolton. As far as where the goals will come from, they still have all of the 15 million pounds from selling Anelka. If they can stay up this year, the 'Ginger Mourinho' will have them back contending for europe next year. And thank you for the luck. I love this thread.

If they can stay up this year, the 'Ginger Mourinho' will have them back contending for europe next year. And thank you for the luck. I love this thread. How did I get to become a Bolton supporter? Mainly, because I'm from the vicinity of Bolton - my parent's house is about 20 minutes drive from the Reebok. When I was growing up all the kids were into Man Utd, Liverpool (who I have a soft spot for because my family and friends supported them). I wanted to go and watch a team I could actually see - I couldn't drive at such a young age, so I had to go somewhere on the bus. Bolton was my choice, they were languishing in the old fourth division (currently League Two) and playing at the old Burnden Park (we were so financially troubled a corner of that ground was sold, and became a local supermarket). A couple of failed attempts at play-off success and fair few victorious ones and we're now (just) in the Premier League. I guess my experience is slightly like yours.... only more offline than online (although I now live about 230 miles from the Reebok). The goals??? Good question, one I tried to answer earlier in the thread. We've got very few out and out strikers at the club - Kevin Davies, Diouf, Rasiak, Vaz Te - only Vaz Te is blessed with the pace of Anelka, but he's still very raw and doesn't look anywhere near the finished article. It's an area that we're going to struggle in. However, kudos to Megson as he's, the Blackburn game apart, managed to make us a defensively tougher team to beat, than the nerve jangling management of Sammy Lee. Most of the money from Anelka has been spent on defenders or defensive midfielders - Matt Taylor, Gary Cahill. And they've done a good job, apart from Taylor missing an open goal from four yards out against his former team (conspiracy??). How we lost to Portsmouth in that game I will never know! Still, rumour is we could be in for Djbril Cisse during the summer. Providing we're still in the top flight, that is.
Welsh Rich
I can't see you going down though... I'm really surprised Reading have found themselves down there. Not sure Cisse is the answer to your problems though. Didn't exactly light up the Premiership the last time he was around.

And that, my friend, is the key to Bolton's recent-ish success. Polishing turds players who didn't do as well as they should.
Welsh Rich
Good luck with that one then! I've got Setanta sports now, for the Rugby, but they have some of the French football on there... I must admit Cisse hasn't featured very highly in their roundups... (On a completely unrelated note - you going to ATP this year?)

Polishing turds players who didn't do as well as they should.Megson himself said that all of the money spent in the transfer window was money that they already had and that the 15 mill was there for the summer window. That is great news. I am glad to meet you. Cheers!!
Griddles
I would agree that Megson has made some good move in bringing in defense, especially now that you are in the relegation battle. As for Cisse, all I can say is good luck with that one. He is really a player that should have done better, maybe it was the two leg breaks. If everyone else is telling how they became fans then dam it so will I.I became aware of European football when I was about 11, I saw the European Supercup between Lazio and Man U. I was hooked on Italian soccer. Then about after about 3 years of not choosing a team, AC did a tour of the US. I loved how they played, and as such decided it was dam will time I choose a team so why not the best team in the world?
Jay
Aston Villa tomorrow, which should be good match. Man U have Fulham so Arsenal cannot afford to drop points.
