mountain bed
You should thank Mr. Zimmerman for turning them on to marijuana. That is all.
bobbob1313
They were pretty well amazing before the marijuana, though. Slightly less amazing, to be sure, but still pretty damn amazing.
mountain bed
I wholeheartedly agree. Still...technicolor Beatles>b&w Beatles. Where does The Dead fit into all of this? I'm out of my element here.

bobbob1313
I apologize in advance for the overly random thread, but man. There are certain times when I could be perfectly content listening to nothing but the Beatles, and now is one of those times. Basil, thats the one I have on right now. tongue-tied
the older the beatles, the better the songs but i don't think they ever had the same energy to them as the first few albums. maybe because they were still a live band and recorded as a group. or maybe the weed mellowed them out. OOO
Yeah, they're pretty much the best thing to happen to music ever.
bobbob1313
I've been reading this analysis of Ringo's drumming for the past hour or so. That dude was severely underrated.

j4lackey
Nerdy is BobBob again. The planets are back in their rightful places. You've posted about your love of early Beatles before, Chris, so that when I'm running and Words Of Love or some such comes on my IShuffle (not often, as I only have two Beatles songs in there right now), I always think of you. rockinrob
the early stuff and the later stuff are like two different bands. The early stuff is the best little rock and roll combo. It was a late fifties teens wetdream of a band. They played catchy, fun pop tunes and had killer harmonies, booked gigs for 25 minutes and could be off in 18. It was a cool time, with great energy. The late stuff is artistic genius. They played the most original, thought provoking, mind opening music known to man.

Lammycat
I prefer the later period Beatles but any Beatles is better than no Beatles. It still boggles the brain just how many excellent (and they really are excellent) tunes they've created.

Somnambulist
Got to love those Beatles tunes that get no credit: Hold Me Tight, All I've Got to Do, Not a Second Time, I'm a Loser, When I Get Home and one of my personal favorites I Don't Want to Spoil the Party (best harmonies in a Beatles tune "I still love her"). mpolak21
They got me into music when I was eleven and I've never looked back since. Magical Mystery Tour is the first album I ever owned, not a bad way to start. --Mike
Sir Stewart
Sgt. Pepper was on par with Sesame Street when I was five. May have something to do with why it's still my favorite.

M. (hristine
Hmmm. I am having a strong feeling of deja vu. Except it was raining and I was driving. Or eating a cheeseburger and it was raining but I didn't notice. Both, actually.
Sir Stewart
"I Wanna Hold Your Hand" is the best Beatles song. "Dear Prudence" is the best Beatles song. "Rain" is the best Beatles song.
