TheMaker
Oh, and is it kosher to list disappointments in this thread, or should be reserve that for another one entirely? The two big letdowns for me were The New Pornos, whose Challengers just does not interest me at all. These guys are probably the best band in the country, but this disc feels like coasting to me. I haven't listened to it in months. The other lame duck was Lucinda's West, which I'm still telepathically attempting to have Lost Highway delete from her discography. Lazy, phoned-in, and totally beneath her enormous talent.

lizish
Broken Family Band - Hello Love(I get really jealous of all the Brits I meet on these board-things. This band refuses to tour North America, yet seems to play every small pub from Cambridge to Hull. Their musical timing is near perfect, with the last song, Seven Sisters, having backing vocals layered in such a way to remind me of a wall that gets higher with each pass. The guitar gets more electric and, adds a couple of extra notes and fuck it! There

MattZ
that Georgie James record totally blows away the latest New Pornographers (which i still like quite a bit)Â I think you and I are on the exact same page. Nothing beats Electric Version for me so I was disappointed by Challengers. This Georgie James album is lots of fun. They are playing in NYC soon -- maybe I will have to check them out. Are they any good live?

Are they any good live?i've only seen them once, early '06, and their sound was a bit different than this (bit more acoustic based), so I can't really say i'll let you know after Saturday tho  oh, and the girl in the band is ridiculously HOT
