what makes these bands indie?

Aren't a lot of them released by major labels?

Where is: Abbey Road? or "From The Mars Hotel" or "In Rainbows"

Yes.

A lot of the albums on this list were well before "indie" even became a music term. I mean "Another Green World" is great, but I certainly would never call it indie--they're probably just using it as a catch phrase for "hip." It's just not cool to say the 100 "Hippest" albums these days or something.

Also, Slanted and Enchanted doesn't beat out Daydream Nation. Also, my list would be named differently and look different, but Wilco deserves is place (and probably a few more up too).

I hope everyone here owns the top 10.

True. I fall down at 'Loveless' though, hearing it a couple times and never making a connection.

I also don't see the attraction of the Misfits - but that's just me.

Not that we need to play 'this is missing' or 'that should be raked higher' but I'd put Wrens - Meadowlands at Numero 1.

I don't have the Big Star album, but I've never been able to get into them for some reason.

Interesting list but, yeah as someone mentioned, my list would be different. I guess that's the fun ;)

That's a good point though...

I usually don't go too nuts about these lists, but I'm surprised "In the Aeroplane Over the Sea" wasn't higher. I like that album a lot less than most, but I've always looked at it as the indie rock album.

Also, I would have liked to see YHF placed higher.

Like was said earlier though, regardless of what is ranked where, there is a lot of good music on this list.
