besides a track or two, this one isn't doing much for me at all compared to The Warning :ohwell

Only through twice - a lot of these songs were played at Bonnaroo last summer when I saw them, so it's nice to hear them again. The Warning is a pretty high benchmark - too early to tell for me.

it's just chock full of slow ballads... not exactly what i want to hear from them (Colours excluded, that song rules)

i only felt like just over 1/2 of The Warning was great, but the great songs were truly great, so far this has maybe 2 songs that can compare to those.

Nope, not at all... I'll have a listen, cheers.

I'd recommend him then. He's been around for about a decade releasing good cds every 3-4 years. If you need more, Pok and I (and a number of other list members) are pretty big fans.

He's turned his own label, hardwood records into a bit of an indie success releasing Cuff the Duke and Basia Bulat in Canandaigua

Seeing him next Sunday so want to become a bit more familiar with his new stuff.

Buckner - Since

This feels like the start of a long long Buckner kick

Ten years now since the lights went down

I was coming out from the secret suite

The name was fame but her spark was fine

Her shadow left to follow me

From the poor oil changer that fades away

A message from a diamond and she's smoking hot

He thought he had a handle but the load went down

Busted up found and broken out

In the dim chalky light

Another half damn moon

I lost, turned, packed, and I knock into a roller

With a note and the news

The showboat motel casper night

The river's high and losing

I'll watch your flaming figure fly

And burn on out at the ruins

This fellow belts out a warning

Of some Spanish house I'd known

Cut to bone

Quick to the cue

"I didn't like that sleeve. I wanted the cover to be black and strong like the sound of the LP, instead all of those fancy colours. I was starting to let things go and accepting things that I shouldn't have." (Ray Davies)

"The album, on the other hand, is perfect." (Me)
