GtrPlyr
I have Yeah Yeah Yeah on my playlist for when i run and the ending part that starts around 3:45 always gives me a nice boost.I don't listen to music when I go jogging (no iPod) but if I did that would be a perfect song to exercise to. Okay, that's not quite true, I do listen to music when I use a treadmill, those days I can't run outside. Living where I do, I will be forced to use that damn treadmill on a regular basis soon enough.
borracho
they are playing OKC for NYE again this year, as well as staging the March of 1000 Flaming Skeletons in the downtown OKC halloween parade this saturday...
mfwahl
I really like At War with the Mystics. I've had Haven't Got A Clue stuck in my head today (I watched the preview of BriWi's interview with McCain/Palin). I can see how people might not like Yeah Yeah Yeah, maybe it's a little too poppy, but it always reminded me of Zappa. I like Zappa. And the Grammy-winning Wizard Turns On is killer. Â Can't wait for their next release. Wayne says it sounds like Miles Davis and Lennon.
wheelco
I agree with those that find the goodness in At War with the Mystics. It's not my favorite, but it is much better than many would have you believe. Even a song like Yeah Yeah Yeah isn't without its charms (it's a fun pop song with great hooks.)My sentiment too, I like Transmissions, Soft Bulletin and Yoshimi better (not so much Clouds TM from my personal taste) -- those are all the ones I own. But "Free Radicals" is in my head today, and the album has grown on me with each listen, which is maybe 25 times, though it's been out awhile and I got it the first week

jakobnicholas
I did not attend the Lips' NYE bash in Oklahoma city, but it sounded amazing. A few fresh songs were added to their playlist, including Turn It On.  But even more fantastically, All We Have is Now and PURPLE RAIN (!!!!)....with Drozd ripping a great guitar solo.  Here's youtube links to the latter 2 songs:   http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HVKF4Vlevbo

jakobnicholas
From Rolling Stone:    The Flaming LipsTitle TBD July After the Flaming Lips' Steven Drozd failed to sell his Oklahoma house last year, the band turned the empty home into a temporary recording studio. "We're capturing more immediate kinds of rock sounds there," says frontman Wayne Coyne. "It's different than the computer-generated beats of the last couple of records." The group is re-teaming with longtime producer Dave Fridmann for its 12th LP
