hazel
i have never tried to do this but have always wanted to after a show. what is the best way to go about it? kinda nervous and shy about it.
you ever seen a ghost?
after a solo show, i walked around back to the bus where a couple of others were waiting. his manager (or something), came out and told us to wait for a little bit. tried this at the c-ville show before the show ended and was denied, but apparently, this was a BS story told to us by event staff. according to everyone i've talked to, just walk to the bus after the show and chill awhile. it's been my experience meeting Jeff twice that he's a very nice dude, ready to meet and greet fans for at least a few minutes. -justin
hazel
is it best to leave the show a little early to get over to the bus before they leave or safe to stay till the end? its gonna be real hard to leave while they are playing!
Analogman
I have always waited until after the show - I have met Jeff several times now - it should not be a problem for you.
mountain bed
What Aman said...for the most part, these guys seem real approachable. Definitely not a "rock star" kind of thing. I was with my whole family last year and we met all of them. It was easy as pie.
Mr. Kinsley
Want an even easier way? Just photoshop your face onto Justin's picture. Ten, fifteen minutes tops. Suitable for framing even.
hazel
thanks for the tips,..sounds easy enough,...i believe there is a little dive bar near where the buses park, i planned on getting there a little early anyway for a pre-show drink or two, who knows maybe the boys might decide to come on in. Kalle
Yeah just hang around the bus, they all come out eventually and they'll chat and sign stuff.
lamradio
Yeah just hang around the bus, they all come out eventually and they'll chat and sign stuff. My wife and I are hoping we can meet them this time in Charleston.. When we saw then in Charlotte, I was just in complete "awe" and just wasn't in any state to wait by the bus.. But this time, we really want to meet them and I hope we get to.
lamradio
The rest of them have been know to tip a few however, so 5 of 6 ain't bad Man I'd love to tip a few with them.. I would tell them the story of when I saw them way back in 97 in front of a crowd of maybe 50 or so and they played with the same heart and soul as they would for a crowd of thousands.. froggie
i just hung around the venue before the show and waited for jeff's car to pull up.. very approachable. its venue staff that can be the bastards. as for tipping a few, we nearly got john and pat to have some with us before the sydney show but they bailed out. That's a great memory! Lucky you. Hazel, you'll find that the band is very approachable after the show, and are some of the nicest guys in the world. No rock star egos to contend with. They are used to people wanting photos and are very nice about it....more than once I've seen Jeff or another band member notice someone's camera and ask, "Did you want a picture?" I always thought that was so incredibly thoughtful of them, to understand that a fan might feel intimidated or shy about asking. Have fun, and no need to cut out of the show early to meet them. Wilco Worshipper
its venue staff that can be the bastards. So TOTALLY agree!!! Myself and another VC'er tried after both Massachusetts shows last June, but it was the staff that made the stink and we never even got close. Yet, I have a friend from the Midwest who has met them at EVERY SINGLE show she's ever been to. She even got Jeff and Glenn to talk to me on the phone after the Kentucky show! Best moments of my life EVER!!!

radiokills
i have never tried to do this but have always wanted to after a show. what is the best way to go about it? kinda nervous and shy about it. i talked with doug martsch before his show. he was kind of in the crowd watching Camper Van Beethoven. id be much more nervous/shy about initiating a conversation with jeff though
hazel
i just can't imagine having a conversation with jeff, i wouldn't know what to say and would feel like such a dork. i know he is very approachable, down to earth and nice to his fans (thats one of the reasons i love him so much) but i am such a fan and i know my stomach will be in knots but i think i will be able to at least ask for a picture and maybe sign something. I remember feeling exactly this way when I first met him. It does go away, once your brain absorbs the realization that he's just a human. A very talented one, but human all the same. A nice human. Good luck with the nerves. Don't let them stop you.
ChooChooCharlie
I too would love to chat up Jeff sometime and probably ask him some uber-nerdy wilco-related question. A couple of friends and I met Nels before the last Madison show. Of course he couldn't have been cooler. He was waiting for a friend to pick him up to go record music before the show for a side project. I love that guy's work ethic. While bored at work, my friend and I had made up our ideal Wilco setlists for the drive up (from Chi). We happened to have them in our pockets at the time and Nels indulged us by looking them over, making comments, and ended up taking them with him (he was perplexed that "everyone really digs Casino Queen" : ). He seemed genuinely impressed we were going to The Millineum park show the next night on top of the Madison show and told us some of the songs we could expect. What a great addition to an already amazing band.
froggie
> just can't imagine having a conversation with jeff, i wouldn't know what to say and would feel like such a dork. it was the same for me. he saw me walking quickly towards him, thought (with a smile on his face) "oh another fan that wants something", but he was cool. got a chat, song request and photo.
