CortezTheKiller
He came dancing across the waterWith his galleons and gunsLooking for the new worldIn that palace in the sun. On the shore lay MontezumaWith his coca leaves and pearlsIn his halls he often wonderedWith the secrets of the worlds. And his subjects gathered round himLike the leaves around a treeIn their clothes of many colorsFor the angry gods to see. And the women all were beautifulAnd the men stood straight and strongThey offered life in sacrificeSo that others could go on. Hate was just a legendAnd war was never knownThe people worked togetherAnd they lifted many stones. They carried them to the flatlandsAnd they died along the wayBut they built up with their bare handsWhat we still cant do today. And I know shes living thereAnd she loves me to this dayI still cant remember whenOr how I lost my way. He came dancing across the waterCortez, CortezWhat a killer. It's live and pretty loose but you could check it out and see if you approve.

hardwood floor
i was thinking this morning "Him or Me, What's it Gonna Be," by Paul Revere and the Raiders might be the best song ever
mfwahl
This version is still my favorite. Awesome! I watched the Kids are Alright for the first time this weekend and it reminded me how great they were. Really good documentary. It's like that new Dylan Newport film where they let the musical performances speak for themselves instead of having Joan Baez and some old hippies and critics waxing nostalgic. Highly recommended

Scott430
In case my earlier Faye Wong selection came off as a little odd. . . Here's one I think more people can agree with. Perhaps my favorite early Dylan song: Boots of Spanish Leather. Just beautiful. Or this, perhaps an even more obvious choice.
