TheMaker
Truth! Wasn't Van's debut just a glorified collection of singles, though? I think this list is required by law to always begin with My Aim is True. Even if you don't like Elvis Costello (we're getting into some tricky theory now, though, because everybody loves EC). My Aim is TrueMusic from Big PinkThe ClashSloan - SmearedMarquee MoonArcade Fire - FuneralVU and NicoNo DepTraceConstantinesFive Leaves LeftWaits - Closing TimeThe Millennium - BeginNew Pornographers - Mass RomanticNeko Case - The VirginianT Bone Burnett - Truth DecayWho Will Cut Our Hair When We're Gone?Gram Parsons - GP (yeah, he'd done a lot by then, so this is cheating)Wolf Parade - Apologies to the Queen Mary And then a wildcard slot, because there are a few contenders, but none that I feel strongly enough about to rank over any of the others. Analogman
The Chicago Transit Authority is the eponymous debut album by the Chicago-based rock band The Chicago Transit Authority, who would later be known as Chicago. It was recorded and released in 1969. 1. "Introduction" (Terry Kath)
mountain bed
I was always a huge fan of the Chicago debut. Terry Kath nearly out Claps Clapton on that. The solos on Poem 58 and Liberation are killers.

Someone gave me that album when I was 14 - I think - original pressing. I have the re-master on cd. It's a great album. There are some awesome bass lines on it, as well.
