That is pretty cool - I once found a Faces tour book stuck inside a used Elton John album at a flea market.
Sir Stewart
I once found Prince sleeping between sides 2 & 3 of my copy of 1999. He winked and burst into a cloud of shiny dust.

jff
I have a copy of this as well. It was pressed in the 90s in limited release (2000). They are not the original singles (now THOSE would be rare.) I have copy 1147 which I bought in Cleveland Heights at Record Revolution. What number did you get? They are VERY cool. I have some of the original vinyl releases of the albums too, Modern Dance particularly, which has been reissued on vinyl. The later ones are fairly common. LouieB I'll have to get back to you about which number I have. I ordered mine online...one of the first things I did when I got internet access. Most of their catalog was out of print at that time. I dubbed all of the singles onto a tape and played it all the time in the car, especially whenever I had a passenger. I don't have any of their LPs on vinyl, but my wife gave me (and herself) the "Datapanik in the Year Zero" box set for christmas the year it came out...late '90s, I guess. jff
One of the few Hendrix releases I don't have - I almost have everything. I think I have seen it on a torrent site somewhere - it was released on cd at some point. The family did this: I have not bothered with the Dagger Records releases - there is a lot of Hendrix unreleased studio stuff on dime a dozen and tape city. Thanks for the info. I'll look for that. I taped them. Pere Ubu is a total freak out to almost everyone. I read about this set in the Reader when it came out and made a point of picking it up in Cleveland (where the band and I are from for no other reason than to say I got it there...doesn't make it worth anymore.) Most of the LPs are back in print as reissues I think. The box set is extremely cool and has some great stuff on it. Since some of the middle period LPs that are on the box set were on Chrysalis, they can be found. The Modern Dance I have is on Blank Records. I have no real idea if is the original release, but what the heck, I don't care either way. It was 6 bucks. Dub Housing is a mono copy though. LouieB

Doug C
I am not a collecter of records or memorabilia. I do have an album that is rare and means quite a lot to me. It is a copy of Yankee Hotel Foxtrot. Why is it rare you wonder? (or not), because it was a gift from a student last year. She was a student of mine all 4 years and she is truly one of the kindest, most genuine people that I have met. She could have been the inspiration for Juno. She is the epitome of what I call a cool lil' chick. Anyway, it was the perfect gift, something that I NEVER would have bought for myself, hell never even considered buying, but nothing could have made me happier. I cried. She rocks and the world is fortunate to have her and all of the other amazing young people I have encountered in 22 years

Oil Can Boyd
Feelies "Crazy Rhythms" on white vinyl. I don't know if that's rare, but I've never seen another copy.Come by my house and I'll show you mine.I also have a copy on Stiff Records that I got signed by Glenn Mercer and Bill Million. The only other autographed album I have is Let it Be signed by Westerberg, Mars, and Tommy Stinson.
Synthesizer Patel
the most limited album release is probably "the in sound from way out!" by the beastie boys on yello vinyl, which is limited to 5000, but i'm not entirely sure how much it's worth. i've got all the beatles albums in mono first pressings, but not in mint condition. and i tend to know more about the value of my cds which often are worth far far more than any of my vinyl - take "king of rock n roll: the complete reprise recordings" by little richard on cd which was only a very limited amount of pressings so people are selling it for this much on amazon. same goes for quite a few other cds i've got actually - i keep thinking about selling them, but then i'm a sucker for having the actual thing on my shelf. Maddie Hope
I also have lots and lots of vinyl... 45's, 78's, 8 tracks, reel to reel (these are mostly the family church singings)...Not sure how rare some are but here are a few off the top of my head... (kinda hard to think of all the things, posters, t-shirts, vinyl...but so much fun collecting) GrandFunk, (can't think of the name of the album), but the vinyl is yellow. Ozzy, Rolling Stones and a couple other vinyls with the faces of the bands on it. Pink Floyds, The Piper at the Gates of Dawn in excellent shape (years to find this one) Rolling Stones, Some Girls, the orginal with the stars pictures A couple years ago I found some vinyls that are dated 1900. I don't recall the names. Great shape, can't play due to I don't have nothing to play older than a 78... A $500 bill (not real of course) with Ray Sawyer's (Dr. Hook) face on it, looks like a $500 bill... but Ray Sawyer signed it. I had Kevn Kinney autograph two different $1 bills (American $1) to send one to the West Midlands(UK) and the other one to the Isle of Wight (UK) to my friends. John Smith
We still have a copy of the Milli Vanilli casette. My wife brought it into our marriage.
lizish
Does anyone recall this, and who it might have been? I'd be interested in talking to that member. Thanks. Do you remember Rooney from LA? Very nice guy, big into Elliott Smith, the Lakers and Beatles. I'm not sure if his login id has survived the latest user id purge. Anyway, that was him. I always thought having that thing would make a good college fund.
LouieB
"Every Christmas night for 7 years now I drink banana daiquiris till I'm blind..." Greatest Christmas song ever.... Rolling Stones, Some Girls, the orginal with the stars pictures A couple years ago I found some vinyls that are dated 1900. I don't recall the names. Great shape, can't play due to I don't have nothing to play older than a 78...Yea...Some Girls....crazy....I also have Her Satanic Magesties Request with the crazy cover.. actually I bought it as a cut out for like a buck or two. Amazingly 78s even from the accoustic era are fairly easy to come by. They are very cool though and find yourself a turntable with 78 on it for the best sound of any recording ever (well maybe not...) The rare ones are worth a ton of money, the common ones like dance music or marches aren't that hard to find. I don't collect them much, but they are fun. (I found a 78 copy of the Carter Family doing No Depression in the last couple years for a couple bucks.) LouieB

Dr. Steve Brule
Based on $$ alone, this is the "rarest" thing I own. Thankfully I paid $8 for mine. Part of me says I should by the new 180 gram version of it as a "play" copy but then what's the point in having the damn thing? I do play it a lot, I love the album. As far as what I'd grab off the wall in a fire, my Golden Smog "Down By The Old Mainstream" poster signed by everyone.
W(TF)
There's also the flukey dumb vinyl "rarities", like misplaced labels. I think my copy of Neil Young's Comes A Time has the Side 1 label on both sides of the record. I wonder what that's worth!
