JUDE
F-U Peckerwood. Edit:IMO, they were pretty equal until about 1997. Pacino lost my interest after Donnie Brasco and Carlito's Way and DeNiro hasn't really done it for me since Casino and Jackie Brown. They both seem to be caricatures of themselves now. JUDE
I find threads that start with "Discuss" or "Go" to be condescending. pfft.
OOO
pfft. You'll get it later. I like DeNiro a lot more. He was in Brazil.
myboyblue
IMO, they were pretty equal until about 1997. Pacino lost my interest after Donnie Brasco and Carlito's Way and DeNiro hasn't really done it for me since Casino and Jackie Brown. They both seem to be caricatures of themselves now. I think DeNiro is underrated for his more recent performances. "Meet the Parents" is brilliant as are some of his smaller roles. Yes, he has played a gangster a few too many times but the guy still delivers. He may not have the roles that he once had but his best work could still be in front of him. I, for one, don't even find Pacino remotely close.
JUDE
I give DeNiro the edge now even though he's hasn't really had a role that grabbed me lately. Pacino hasn't been subtle in ten years.
Lammycat
In a vat of Crisco and sardines wrestling match: DeNiro. In a a pickle-eating contest: Pacino.

tongue-tied
DeNiro, that was easy. I first read the title as "DeVito or Pacino", that would have been tougher.
MrRain422
Deniro by a mile.
markosis
Definitely DeNiro. Goodfellas. Raging Bull. End of story.
JUDE
Serpico, Dog Day Afternoon, The Godfather
Good Old Neon
Definitely DeNiro. Goodfellas. Raging Bull. End of story. That pretty much sums it up - (though I would raise you Mean Streets and Taxi Driver) I think Pacino's last decent role was Ricky Roma in Glengarry Glen Ross - it's been pretty much downhill ever since. Griddles
Now I would go with DeNiro, but in the 1970's I would go with Pacino but that is just because I love the Godfather (1 and 2) more than just about any other movie.
zkits
DeNiro in Stardust seals the deal for me.
Sir Stewart
This is like asking: who do you like better, Robert DeNiro or Al Pacino?
Good Old Neon
This is like asking: who do you like better, Robert DeNiro or Al Pacino? Let's say we raise the stakes and throw in a wildcard - Harvey Keitel?
