M. (hristine
Fucking bastards. Two years ago at tax time I said something to my accountant about my paltry wages for a woman of my age and intelligence. She said, "Yes, but think of it as an act of civil disobedience. You are not supporting this war."
viatroy
I feel pretty good about that myself, but then I'm a socialist at heart. I never minded paying taxes until the social contract was voided by these fuckers. The best thing that could happen is the repeal of the law which designated personhood for corporations. Then we could possibly return to "of, by and for" the people. Fuck agribusiness, fuck Wall Street, fuck the national security/military/industrial complex. I want my country back. I'm sure you won't be surprised by this, but just today the thought came into my head, "Tracy is a true socialist. Yep. :yes"
kwall
Considering the deficit has grown $600 billion under Bush (from a surplus), the national debt is at $10 trillion, and McBush sees no reason to end our $2 billion/week criminal action in Iraq, we're going to have to get money from somewhere. I personally think the top 2% has had their free ride."From each according to his ability, to each according to his need"
viatroy
agreed. But the noblesse no longer feels any oblige, as far as I can tell (unless it comes in the form of tax deductible charitable gifts).

viatroy
Jesus was a Marxist. In unrelated news .... NEW YORK, Aug 30 (Reuters) - Lehman Brothers has hired Jeb Bush, brother of the President of the United States, as an advisor to its private equity business, a source familiar with the situation said. Lehman hired another relative of U.S. President George W. Bush last year--George Walker, a second cousin, who heads up the bank's asset management business. Jeb Bush is the former governor of Florida. Lehman Brothers declined to comment.
kwall
What evidence do you have that Obama is a Marxist?i don't know that he supports a worker's revolution, so i wouldn't label him a marxist. i would, however, say he adheres to marxist principles as evidenced by his policy proposals such as his aformentioned tax plan and the windfall profits tax that seek a redistribution of wealth, and his proposal to nationalize health care. Guest Jules
this chart is effective because it give proportional space for each income bracket (the tiny slivers at the top are the ultra wealthy who will indeed have their taxes raised). the majority of us will see lower taxes under Obama than McCain.Yeah, fuck the businesses too. They don't pay in nearly enough. Considering the deficit has grown $600 billion under Bush (from a surplus), the national debt is at $10 trillion, and McBush sees no reason to end our $2 billion/week criminal action in Iraq, we're going to have to get money from somewhere. I personally think the top 2% has had their free ride."Free ride" as in contributing most of the overall US tax intake. You should be thankful to that "top 2%". Free ride...what a complete joke.
