Guest Hollinger.
Cousins was being checked out by the trainer to see if he could return. There isn't another ump waiting as a backup, the entire crew is on the field.

Moltisanti
Big win for Boston. Damn. The TBS debacle. There are no words. Unforgivable, maybe.

CrushOfVeils80
the TBS F**k up was ridiculous, nothing against Steve harvey but its October! I thought I was gonna lose it and Im not even a Sox or Rays fan, I can only fathom how pissed id be if it was my team Anyway, Im going for the Rays in this series, its a feel good story being worst to first and small market and whatnot plus I work with this really arrogant Red Sox fan but what a heartbreaking loss tonight, the stars were really aligned to win tonight, home cookin and Sheilds on the mound who was great at home all year (9-2 with a 2.59 ERA and 15 of 17 starts were quality) and Beckett not at 100% whatsoever, the Rays didnt force the issue near enough tonight, not much hit & running or stealing of bases, this isnt a mashing team and I feel like the last two games they have sat back and waited for the long ball and forgot the formula that got them this far, big big win for Boston and I give the Rays little to no chance tomorrow, an experienced championship team now smells blood in the water, Lester wont pitch as bad as he did in game 3 again and can Garza pitch as well as he did in game 7 again? I dont see it....if its a close game late tomorrow the Rays maybe have to use Edwin Jackson or even Scott Kazmir (maybe in a save situation?) out of the pen, Balfour is done right now and on another planet and Howell & Bradford have been overworked....I hope Im wrong and the Rays shock the world tomorrow night, fingers crossed for no Steve Harvey! Lammycat
Yeah, Beckett is gonna get rocked Saturday night. It's gonna be like batting practice for the Rays.
Moltisanti
Okay, Beckett didn't get rocked by the Rays last night. My bad, I took a risk. The Rays scratch off enough runs tonight to beat Lester.
rareair
i am already excited for tonight's game. cannot believe how many key errors the rays are committing. were they this poor a fielding team in the regular season?

jenbobblehead
the voodoo was all off this time. I think it has something to do with being 900+ miles away from fenway.
Oil Can Boyd
I have not showered or changed my shirt since Thursday.I love the fact that the players at least as superstitious as the fans. This was mentioned in the paper after Thursday night's game:While the Sox were outhitting and outscoring the Rays in the last three innings, Manny Delcarmen sat on the couch in the clubhouse. Daisuke Matsuzaka - who, along with Delcarmen, could have been the goat of this game - warned him not to move. Delcarmen, who walked the only two batters he faced, was charged with both runs, leaving the Sox in a 7-0 deficit in the seventh. "They told me not to move," Delcarmen said. "The funny thing is the TV's a little late, so we hear the people scream. We don't know what the [heck] is going on, then we see the pitch."
CrushOfVeils80
love the oil can boyd username, that takes me back to my Topps cards 20 years ago Again Im pulling for the Rays but I just dont see it, too many things are going right for Boston right now, the Rays had a championship team on the ropes and couldnt knock them out, the self destruction has been hard to watch, I think Garza pitches well enough to win tonight but Lester brings his A game, I will say 4-3 Sox with a 2 inning save for JP, again if this game is close I think Kazmir needs to be the closer tonight for TB, they need to pull out all the stops and their bullpen is just not good right now

tugmoose
From the Phillie perspective, I think you'd want the Rays to pull it out tonight, so that in the WS you get an ALCS survivor, rather than an ALCS winner.

tugmoose
That long layoff sure did the Rockies a lot of good last year. And I think they would have fared better facing a shaken Indians team than a steamrolling Red Sox squad.
bjorn_skurj
If Boston comes back from 3-1 against a team better than the '07 Tribe, I think you can call them steamrollers.

bjorn_skurj
If making fun of the Mets helps you with your insecurity about the Phils being able to beat the Red Sox or the Rays, go 'right ahead. Maybe Ortiz will get a chance to crush Lidge like Pujols did in '04.

Maybe Ortiz will get a chance to crush Lidge like Pujols did in '04.Yikes. Wasn't my intention to make fun of the Mets. Just though it was an inneresting picture, ya know, Shea sans scoreboard (non sequitur, off topic I admit). I apologize if it was taken another way. PS: I have many insecurities in my life. Sports teams are not among them.
