Wilco Worshipper
In the beginningWe closed our eyesWhenever we kissedWe were surprisedTo find so much inside Definitely one of the best Wilco lyrics...EVER I shake my head every time I see someone writing something negative. So please enlighten us Lovers of Pieholden...what is it that you don't like?!?
Sunken mountain
I hope EVERYBODY loves Pieholden. Seriously,it
IATTBYB
I could just as easily ask why all the swooning love for Pieholden? It's not a bad song, but there are so many better songs in the Wilco arsenal. I personally prefer the rock-n-roll Wilco over the ballady/poppy Wilco. Give me a set list with Misunderstood, ATWYS, Spiders, Casino Queen, Passenger Side, Outtasite, Monday, Dreamer in my Dreams, Box Full of Letters, Too Far Apart, Hoodoo Voodoo, IATTBYH, Pot Kettle, Handshake Drugs, Shot in the Arm, Kicking Television, Thanks I Get, Lets Not Get Carried Away and I would be one happy camper. jakobnicholas
Pieholden is amazing....that's why I listed it #1 on my all-time Wilco list (the version on the IATTBYH dvd is awesome.)
mpolak21
There were only two who people listed it on their list of Wilco songs they can't stand. It seemed to be a bigger deal than it actually was because about five people commented "how could anyone not like Pieholden Suite" or something along those lines. It's probably one of the more popular songs in their catalog among diehards, it's always on people's wishlists for webcasts. And for good reason. --Mike
froggie
i dont have anything against their slow ballady songs, but it just seems to put me to sleep. they lyrics are great, but i cant get into the sound of it. it looks better on paper to me
Guest Jules
Sometimes I somewhat don't not kind of like Pieholden Suite.

hazel
i obviously love it very much, my only complaint is that its too short!
Scott Gyrrr
Maybe the swooney keyboards near the end don't quite do it for the people who are still addicted to pain killers?
jimtweedy1977
I particularly like the demo version of Pieholden, with mostly just the acoustic geetars.
damo
one of my favourite wilco songs

Wilco Worshipper
There were only two who people listed it on their list of Wilco songs they can't stand. --Mike Okay, well I did find a third one but in the past there have been quite a few people not so pleased by this song. But I do see what you mean by how it seemed a bigger issue than it really was in that thread.
g_srikishan
Pieholden is one of my top favorite songs...it brings back a lot of sad memories, so I don't listen to it much. But I still love it.
So Long
Pieholden is amazing! Beatley pop at it's best. I was so happy they played it at Tanglewood this year
TCP
Musically speaking, I think it's one of Wilco's finer songs
Wilco Worshipper
it brings back a lot of sad memories... But I still love it.Same... *sigh*
Panther
they always seem to strech themselves beyond their on paper abilities in every lineup I mean that four piece was great and what a great arrangment. I love the 4 man beatles lineup. I think that why some people didn't like Sky blue Sky becuz it appeard as if they held back which I do not agree with.
awatt
Does this remind anyone else of Elvis Costello? This is really and truly one of the best songs. Ever. All time. Guest Da Dogg
Does this remind anyone else of Elvis Costello? This is really and truly one of the best songs. Ever. All time. In the beginning we closed our eyesWhenever we kissedWe were surprised toFind so much inside Kills me every time. The song is very good. Then the horns at the end, and it becomes one of my favorites, from any musical act, and dis dogg likes a lot of acts.
mpolak21
Okay, well I did find a third one but in the past there have been quite a few people not so pleased by this song. But I do see what you mean by how it seemed a bigger issue than it really was in that thread. I have always considered Pieholden to be one of the more popular songs here, but I tend to remember a lot of things that happen on this board as sweeping gross generalizations. For instance awhile back someone was talking about the unreleased song Let's Fight, and I remembered the song getting a pretty tepid reaction here. But when I checked the archives, there were only two posters who were complaining about it. So, my memory regarding what's posted here kind of sucks. Consider me the exact opposite of A-Man in that regard. Pieholden is certainly worth the discussion though. I love it, it's a very moving, wonderful song. It one of the more unique and intriguing songs in their catalog. I incorporated the first lines of it into a play I wrote a few years ago college. --Mike
Basil II
Pieholden is really the glue that holds "Summerteeth" together thematially.......that push-pull of pop and folk punk ass shit so it makes sense on .........whatever YOU want it to be... -Robert
pillowy star
One of my favorite songs on my favorite album ever.
