If I was to try and decide which Wilco record to turn a friend on to I would probably suggest to my beer drinking friends AM, and to my my potheaded friends I would say try Summerteeth.

I'll play.

Being There for my coke fiend friends-they'll need endurance.

YHF for my music snob friends.

AGIB for my acid loving friends.

KT for my cool friends.

SBS for my chardonnay sipping friends.

I like that we can have twangy Wilco and poppy Wilco and noisy Wilco. It keeps things interesting, especially with how much they've dug into the back catalogue this year.

I agree, there is a Wilco sound for everyone.

The order of the albums very often changes for me.

Currently AGIB & BT top the list, but for the longest time was YHF & ST

AM & SBS are my least favorite, but I do love quite a few songs on each.

I love AM. It is rockin', jaunty and fun. It is also the album that turned me onto Wilco (though No Depression was my first Tweedy).

This will sound like a lame cop out (copout?) but I can't really pick a favorite wilco album. My honest answer would be the one that I choose to listen to at that moment.

Summerteeth is probably my favorite Wilco record; it's the only one I never tire of. Every song and every melody on that album does something for me. It's lyrically great, and the arrangements are probably my favorite of any Wilco record. Nothing about Summer Teeth bothers me, or even fails to excite me. To me it's everything I love about Armed Forces by Elvis Costello, just in a more consistent record (yes, I just said I think Summer Teeth > Armed Forces...shoot me.)

A.M. is probably my least favorite Wilco record...thus I can't agree with said statement. I don't dislike country or anything, I just think A.M. is sort of 2nd or 3rd rate Flying Burrito Brothers; whenever I'm in the mood for that sound, I run to Parsons, or in modern times, Lucinda Williams, Ryan Adams, and The Jayhawks before I'll go for A.M.

But if you like A.M. that much, more power to you.

Twang is annoying.

AM is not a good album.

Oh man............either you have this all wrong or i've gotta quit my band now!

(Twang is corny and stale.)

Damn......that is harsh. You don't like beer do you?

You know I like both of those albums quite a bit myself. And really anyone who has ever seen a Jeff solo show can tell you that underneath either the noise or the twang its all good songwriting!

AM is SOOOO underated on here. I can listen to it over and over. Hardly listened to Summerteeth at all.

I respect that opinion. However, it occurred to me that if you "hardly listened to Summerteeth at all," you may not have listened to it enough times to let such a layered album unwrap itself for your ears. Me, I have the opposite problem -- I've listened to ST too much (thanks, wife).
