Tweedling
Hi Edie! Did not know that.
Moe_Syzlak
That was a good, entertaining game and my horse won as I was rooting fort he Steelers, but did anyone else feel like that was "Ref Bowl"? That game felt like there was way too many plays decided by touchy feely late hits and the like. I'm not saying the Steelers didn't deserve to win, but the refs played way more of a part than I feel they should. It's fuckin' football, let them hit each other! bobbob1313
this was the Santonio and Larry show. Maybe the greatest performance by two recievers in Super Bowl History.
bjorn_skurj
Wo. Two good Super Bowls in a row.
bobbob1313
Well, let's not confuse 12 minutes of great football for a great game. It was pretty boring with the exception of the 4th quarter and the halftime show. Once Larry Fitzgerald showed up, shit got crazy though. He's so damn good.
bjorn_skurj
OK. That was the only part of the game I actually paid attention to.
Moe_Syzlak
Really!?! Am I the only one that doesn't excuse a ridiculously officiated game because of a good finish?
bjorn_skurj
If I was a Cardinals fan, I'd be pretty pissed at the refs, but since I don't have a rooting interest and it was entertaining at the end, I deem it a success in my book. Funny how Warner did not bring IHVH's name into it in his locker room interview.

Great opening drive by the Steelers to open the game. Cardinals put together a great touchdown drive down 10-0 to keep it a game. James Harrison returns an INT 100 yards for a touchdown right before halftime. Arizona makes plenty of key goalline stands. A great second half and an especially great finish. I don't think I agree with your assessment. As for the officiating, I don't remember too many of the calls, especially early. But the ones in the second half and fourth quarter all seemed warranted. Anything specific you're referring to?

This is how I feel. Also, allowing 100 yard pick sixes is a no no.
bjorn_skurj
Jesus, I don't care how many millions of dollars I was getting paid - I would think thrice about trying to tackle that Harrison dude when he was in full-tilt mode.

Anything specific you're referring to?At least two of the three personal fouls against AZ on that one drive were questionable at best, IMO (it is fucking football after all , let them hit each other). And the Fitzgerald TD catch hit the ground (blame Tomlin for not challenging that though). Also, the safety and a myriad of other plays were decided not by plays on the field, but by calls by the refs. not necessarily wrong calls, but I have hard time agreeing with those that say it was a great game when so much of it -- before the final two minutes -- was decided by referee calls. cryptique
That was a good game but a horrible finish. No doubt that last play was an incomplete pass. I can't believe they didn't review it. I thought it was incomplete when I saw it happen, but the replays convinced me that it was a fumble. His arm was moving forward, but he no longer had control of the ball at that point. But yeah, I think they should have stopped the game for a careful review ... someone said they reviewed it in the booth, but for such an important call, I think you have to go through the motions to let everyone know that you took a good look at it. On NPR this morning, a news reader referred to the game MVP as "San Antonio Holmes."

cryptique
So, the Boss was allsome. You think? I was disappointed, though not terribly. I'm pretty sure he cut a verse or two out of "Tenth Avenue Freeze-Out," which sucks, but is understandable due to time constraints ... and I didn't think his voice sounded very good -- at least from "Born To Run" on. Perhaps the crotch collision knocked it out of him. He seemed winded after that. He wasn't bad ... but I was hoping he'd be in top form, and I didn't think he was. It was cool to see the Conan O'Brien horn section there, though.

myboyblue
I thought it was somewhat cheezy but overall good. The guy is getting to old to be sliding around and stuff. And that referee skit was just bad.

caliber66
Just because there were a lot of penalties doesn't mean that the referees called the game too tightly. Sometimes teams just commit a lot of penalties. Even in the Super Bowl.
moxiebean
Looked like he might have taken a shot to the pills with that one. It's the Super Bowl, though. I bet he's wearing a cup.
MattZ
I'm with caliber. I thought a lot of penalties were called because a lot of penalties were committed. Hard to imagine how many stupid personal fouls were committed at crucial points in the game. Left a bad taste in my mouth.
lamradio
The refs seemed to favor the Steelers in this game. Throughout the whole game, they analyzed everything, going back to replay for 2, 3, 4 minutes to make sure they got the call right. Then, with Warner's throw, I don't think it was a fumble, they took all of about 2 seconds to decide it was a fumble???? Did not understand that at all.. Seems like they were just ready to get the game over with.

John Smith
That running into the holder was bogus. The guy pulled up...it wasn't like he plowed him over. Oh there is another drive killer. Hold on the Cardinals. He difinately tried to pull up (or rather was not trying to hit the holder) however since the holder is considered defenseless in his position, much like a kicker with his feet still in the air... He ran the guy over, which is against the rules. The play was called correctly. The only personal foul call I had a problem with being 100% wrong was the one on the Rothlesberger hit. Very weak call. Great game though. Harrisona play was stupendous runing 100 yards with people banging off of himthe whole way, he deserved the TD.
