Moss
Pearl Jam - But Neil Young came out and played with Pearl Jam (no Eddie) so not sure if that counts. Dada - Drove all the way there only to find a sign on the door saying the guitar player had broken his arm. The Sundays - Won tickets on a radio station, didn't feel like going. (pretty lame I know). First Lolapalooza - Had a conflict so I got there late, saw about 3 songs by Jane's addiction, then had to leave. Can't even remember what the conflict was so how important could it have been? Probalby some lame work BS. Idiot!

Vacant Horizon
man these all killed me lindsey buckingham a few months ago but had an unavoidable work conflict tobin sprout years ago -- and he NEVER tours - and couldn't get out of something long scheduled smithereens ... dropped my daughter off at her grandmother's, she wasn't feeling well. she told me, "I want to go home, daddy, but I know how much you want to see that concert, so I'll be fine." come on ... how could I leave her there! priorities become crystal clear with kids. jff
I had two third row tickets for this Pearl Jam show in '94: http://www.discogs.com/release/1115938 But I sold them to a broker for $250 (big money back then) and spent the money on a roadtrip to Ohio with a friend to see these two Dead shows: http://www.archive.org/details/gd94-03-20....5464.sbeok.shnfhttp://www.archive.org/details/gd94-03-21....6258.sbeok.shnf

Guest Hollinger.
I had tickets to see George Carlin my freshman year in high school... had been waiting for the show for months, and then the day of the show comes around and I am just insanely sick, and can't go. My buddies went and had an amazing time. Luckily I did get to see him a couple years ago. I had thought I blew my only chance to see him.

bsr8j
New Pornographers with Destroyer opening. We were at a friends having dinner and started watching our school (UVa) play FSU in football. And then the weirdest thing started happening...we were beating FSU. And then we couldn't leave for the show lest the luck change for Virginia. So we finished watching the game (which we won) and had missed the show. I'm still not sure it was a great idea to miss the show, but we got to see the New Pornographers (without Dan or Neko) the next time they came to town with Belle & Sebastian. OOO
Gnarls Barkley and Flaming Lips on New Years Eve playing at my college, because my mom wanted me home for ALL the holidays. And I missed the first day of the Wilco residency last year because I was out of town with my job. Booo. (I had tickets to the first day and the last day, so I got to see them a few days later, but still)

Check them out if they pass by near you. Tickets are never more than 15 bucks anyway.

plasticeyeball
Joe Strummer after Earthquake Weather I'm guessing cause it was the late eighties. Somewhere in the city. The Limelight I think. Misunderstanding as to where to meet up with my friends. We were waiting in New York, he & his girlfriend were waiting in NJ for me to pick them up. Pre cell phone days. The Recent Pogues show around st patricks day, 2007 when Shane got hurt and they canceled but we didn't know till we got to the door. At least got my money back on that one. The Hold Steady this past Thanksgiving week in NY. I kept those Strummer tickets for 10 or 15 years. Don't remember tossing them but can't find them now. Thanks for bringing up the sad memories. remphish1
i forgot i didnt go to the last night of the wilco residency because i was exhausted. Wow..I can understand being tired but for the sake of completion I would have done what ever necessary to see the finally show even if it meant I would doze of for a few minutes.... I once saw 8 concerts in 6 days and it was tiring but I had a seat for most of thise night and pulled through it! This was with waking up for work at 7am every day....I also was 21 then... This was with waking up for work at 7am every day....I also was 21 then... sounds like another thread idea ... concert insanity ... i remember as a kid going to see yes at roosevelt stadium in jersey city, climbing through the window of a bus with my friends (nj transit sent four buses for 40,000 people) to get back to journal square, finally getting home at like 2 a.m., getting up at 6 a.m., going to school, then heading out to central park as soon as school let out for a 6 p.m. gentle giant / starcastle show at wollman skating rink. that was a hell of a couple days. but, yeah, you can't skip a wilco residency show because you're tired! come on!
