Smokestack Joe
nothing against Canada but the Classic should stay in the States at least for a few more years and then go back to Canada. Hockey isnt popular in the US and it is in Canada so it seems smart on a PR level to play it in the States. New York, Philly, Detroit, St. Louis, some place cold on the 1st. Winston Legthigh
Regardless of your remarks, the Canadians have won one gold medal since 1952, and needed an all-star team of pros to do so. That's better.
Winston Legthigh
USA! USA! USA! Suck it Canada, it's our game now!

So Long
Last night's World Juniors game was incredible. I'm very happy for the US team, only the 2nd time we've captured the gold.
Winston Legthigh
Nice to see the blockbuster trades going on lately... Phaneuf to Toronto...Giguere to Toronto...Kovalchuk to NJ...
Smokestack Joe
yeah Ilya to NJ is a big one. Ovechkin gets all the pub but Ilya has scored just as much. a Great player finally on a good team. at least 41 goals in each of the last five seasons

Winston Legthigh
Welcome to last week.Me-OW. What are you, Mr. Blackwell's heir?
Aeglos
the Devils are looking pretty fearsome with the addition of Kovalchuk... i guess Lou really sees the window for cups closing sooner than later with Brodeur's age
Smokestack Joe
plus i think NJ has a little edge because it seems people are still fixated on Washington and Pittsburgh. NJ is pretty damn good and now with Ilya, really damn good.
TCP
Mmmm.... Sedins don't show up. In fact the team doesn't show up till the third period. But the Canucks still beat the Bruins. Niiice! (Sorry had to brag to the B fans here ) Anyways, loving all these trades lately. It'll be interesting to see how Kovalchuk will do under Lemaire. I don't think the Devils would be the kind of team he'd sign with.
tongue-tied lightning
not much I can say about my Bruins. Out play, out shoot, but they cant out score anyone. not having a pure goal scorer really hurts.

I don't think the Devils would be the kind of team he'd sign with.I don't think he will sign with the Devils. The rumors say that he'll be offered $20m+/year in the KHL, tax free. As long as there's oil in them thar hills in Roosia, there's tax-free salaries to dangle.
TCP
not much I can say about my Bruins. Out play, out shoot, but they cant out score anyone. not having a pure goal scorer really hurts. Luongo was also pretty amazing too. What goes around comes around. The Canucks played Montreal a few days ago and were the better team but Halak stood on his head, today the Canucks were outplayed for 40 minutes but still managed to win. The B's will get theirs. Smokestack Joe
wow, ovechkin with the hat trick, crosby two goals, Knuble in OT from Ovechkin....does it get better than Caps vs Pens? Capitals are too good.
tongue-tied lightning
the streak is over ! take that Habs. we'll see if we can string a few together and get back in the hunt. we still need a sniper, who doesn't.

So Long
Olympic hockey is cool and all, but I'm really missing the NHL right about now.
TCP
Don't worry, the medal games will be better. But I'd be lying if I said I didn't miss my Canucks!
Winston Legthigh
Anyone see the hit Ovechkin put on Jagr?It was beautiful. He flattened him in open ice, and the turnover led directly to a goal for Russia. I'd post the video if the Olympic Committee didn't take it down already.

Rusty Shackleford
Anyone see the hit Ovechkin put on Jagr?It was beautiful. He flattened him in open ice, and the turnover led directly to a goal for Russia. I'd post the video if the Olympic Committee didn't take it down already. Speaking as a Caps fan, I think Ovechkin earned his $100 million for that hit alone.
Smokestack Joe
as a fan without a NHL home team, Ovie is the best player in the game. Sid is great but Ovechkin has it all, size, speed, power, finesse, score, pass, fight....
