bböp
Well that was fun! Very rare to hear both Outta Mind (Outta Sight) and Outtasite (Outta Mind) in the same show, much less the same encore. I thought the setlist was pretty darn strong; it definitely kept me off-balance for most of the night, which I consider a good thing. Anyway, more later maybe. For now, the complete setlist as played: One Sunday Morning>Poor Places>Art Of AlmostI MightMisunderstoodIATTBYH>One WingRising Red LungImpossible GermanyFar, Far AwayCalifornia StarsKameraBorn AloneCapitol CityCan't Stand ItWar On WarDawned On MeI'm Always In Love------------------------------Outta Mind (Outta Sight) (w/Jingle Bells keyboard outro) (w/Wilco techs Josh, Nate and Travis on bells and tambourine)Whole LoveSomeday SoonBox Full Of LettersHeavy Metal DrummerMonday>Outtasite (Outta Mind)--------------------------------Cruel To Be Kind [Nick Lowe] (w/Nick Lowe on acoustic guitar and lead vocals)

bböp
Wasn't there a jingle bells in the first outa site? Yeah, forgot to mention that in my haste to post. Thanks for the reminder! Also I meant to say kudos to Nick Lowe, who changed up his set as much as I've seen him do throughout this tour with Wilco. This was his set, as played, in Milwaukee: Stoplight RosesHeartLong Limbed GirlLately I've Let Things SlideAll Men Are LiarsI Live On A BattlefieldI Read A LotI Knew The Bride (When She Used To Rock 'n' Roll)Alison [Elvis Costello]When I Write The BookThe Beast In Me
Preferred B
Great show, GREAT encores! And way to go Nick Lowe for inserting the Pfister Hotel into "Bride."
uncool2pillow
Surprised they dumped Cruel To Be Kind from the encore. Glad I got to saw it at Val Air.
Caseydog
It was a great show but the heavy hand with The Whole love left me flatat times. Like the album a lot, but eight track is a little bit overkill. Loved the handful of rarities. Highlight were the opening five which I had predicted in that order Far, Far Away and Can't Stand It. H.Stone
I'M ALWAYS IN LOVE. I had just been saying that I often miss that song by just a show or two. Not this time! And the new stuff is just so good. Great setlist, great dunkel at the beer hall beforehand, great start to the festivities of the next 10 days!
bböp
Surprised they dumped Cruel To Be Kind from the encore. Glad I got to saw it at Val Air. Huh? They didn't. It's on the setlist I posted above.
taint misbehavin
Solid looking set! Got a shot of the poster by chance?
uncool2pillow
Nevermind, I didn't notice it as a separate encore below the 2nd set of dotted lines.
Via Harvard
Best show of the Whole Love tour so far, hands down.
Caseydog
Best show of the Whole Love tour so far, hands down. Ya think??? I thought it was a great show. Too much The Whole Love. Can't Stand It, Misunderstood, and Far Far Away were highlights.
Beltmann
Hard to fault the emphasis on The Whole Love since it is a tour in support of, um, The Whole Love. More surprising was the inclusion of "Can't Stand It" and both "Outta Mind (Outta Sight)" and "Outtasite (Outta Mind)." Wow! My other highlights were "Misunderstood," "Box Full of Letters," "I'm Always In Love," and "Poor Places" morphing into "Art of Almost." (Almost as sublime as "Poor Places" giving way to "Spiders," like they used to do.) The set list was so strong that the absence of staples like "Handshake Drugs" and "Via Chicago" barely registered. (Me? I would have dropped "Impossible Germany" and kept one of those other two, but who wants to nitpick?) It was also great to run into plenty of friends. I saw at least four former students at different times (one was reviewing the show), and a few VC'ers, too. It's always a pleasure to see the Dude, and, through sheer happenstance, Stacy and I ended up sitting right next to the wonderful Preferred B and bbop, who I haven't seen in years. hwllo
Ya think??? I thought it was a great show. Too much The Whole Love. Can't Stand It, Misunderstood, and Far Far Away were highlights. you serious? What Whole Love tour show didn't have a lot of Whole Love songs? hahaha
Smokestack Joe
I really enjoyed the show. Lots of good old tunes like Far Far Away, Im Always in Love, Cant Stand It, OUtta Mind (Outta Site). those songs brought me back to the BT/ST era at the Barrymore in Madison. great fun! Nels is just a sight to see during the solo of Impossible Germany, he improvises every time and it keeps getting better. plus it is a kick to watch Jeff in awe of Nels during the solo. I was fourth row and i havent been that close in years so it was a real joy!
allgodsmoney
What a great show! I had a great time, and was thoroughly entertained by both wonderful acts. The Whole love is a favorite album of mine, and I sure enjoy seeing it played live. Poor Places, War on War and Outa sight outa mind and vice versa? Yes please! It’s always fun to listen to the band as a whole, but to watch some of the individual nuances that a particular player contributes to a particular song, like Nels on the double neck, switching back and forth…Anyway, the Riverside is beautiful theater, and the sound was right on. I really , really appreciate the extra work the sound crew takes on to allow us to hear the full potential of the band. When I’ve seen other bands ant this venue and others like it, the band that I am seeing does not always create a “house mix” for the people up front. This involves a totally different mix than what is coming through the monitors or the main mix, and comes through little monitor type speakers set on either side of the stage. This extra work (and I’m sure, extra expense) shows that Wilco is willing to go through some extra motions to perfect their art, show us some serious (whole) love.Great show, great venue, great set list and great sound. Caseydog
you serious? What Whole Love tour show didn't have a lot of Whole Love songs? hahaha Eight off the album. I guess that's pretty standard.
Caseydog
Just read that the band brought people from obstructed view seats in Minneapolis up to the front. Same thing happened in Milwaukee. Six people who were sitting in the very last row of the balcony were brought to the front row right in front of Nels (and also in front of me). This band is special for sure. JAK2112
Six Being There songs, looks like a great set
deceasedlavy
Heck of a show as usual. Too short as always! Kind of ashamed to admit I was crushed to not get "A Shot In The Arm" for, I think, the first time ever. Encore was not exactly my fave selections but overall I'd say it was a great setlist, relatively speaking. Suppose they'll bust out "Sunken Treasure" and "Hotel Arizona" in Chicago. Really, really wish I could make it to...all of those shows.
mhertweck
Bout time they dropped Shot In The Arm from the setlist. Great song but they've been playing it every show for like ten years. Needs to get some shelf time for sure.
winterland121072
A bit late responding, but overall a fantastic show and experience... After Lowe set we talked to some people in the first row (wife and I had 2nd row center - thank you presale). The center front row people, at least, were "miracled" with these seats as they all were in the balcony back row. A wilco roadie came up to them during lowe set and asked if they wanted to "upgrade." Looks like first row was reserved for something / some group. The people we spoke with were very happy. The couple we mostly talked to (from chicago) not only were happy but were huge wilco fans...Karma at its best... We stayed up at stage center and sure enough the security / ushers did nothing. So we stayed there the whole show. I've never been that close / great experience. I saw Dead (with Jerry) many many many times and never was that close. It was like the Grateful Dead movie for those that have seen that (the chicken shack guy). Highly recommended... Musically, we were very happy. The band was very tight and apparently gleeful. The very varied setlist was a welcome pleasure. Overall, well worth the trip from madison...Really happy to hear far far away, someday, slowed down version of outta site (with jingle bells - seeing the roadies with the jingles was great - giddy at its best), and of course, can't stand it - always wanted to see that... We stayed at the pfister and saw Lowe in the lobby at around 6:00. So, his comment about staying at the pfister was funny...we laughed... Were VC people there? I'd love to hang out / meet everyone in person at one of these shows...

michaelcorcoran
Anybody know of a recording of this? It's in the roadcase on WilcoWorld.net but haven't seen it floating around the usual BT sites.
