The myth was fun, but it never held much water. I think of him as the nerdy, single, somewhat sketchy straight male's Ani Difranco. An overly downcast catalog that is way, way in need of self-editing but still has some good gems. It is funny, though, how his name appears on every check and his photo appears on (almost) every album cover and he always writes back if you write him, but he's "mythical."
