Madcap
unreal. Is there any precedence for this that might suggest it gets moved to an indoor venue somewhere? I feel terrible for all the people that came in from out of town.
PopQuizKat
Man I am supremely bummed about this. Been having a blast in Chicago and this just dampens the whole trip. Hoping for some kind of miracle. However anyone have any suggestions on how to fight loneliness in downtown Chicago?
Spooner74
Boo!! http://www.dnainfo.com/chicago/20140712/downtown/taste-of-chicago-canceled-saturday-due-rain Taste will offer automatic refunds for concert and Chef du Jour tickets purchased online. Jeff Tweedy and Lucinda Williams were scheduled to headline the event Saturday night.
bcdoc
Go to Rossi's Liquors. It is on 412 State St. Greatest dive bar in the Loop. I suggest a Malort and an Anti-Hero to wash it down. Then stumble down to the Billy Goat.
PopQuizKat
looking for alcohol-free activities to do in Chicago? Which museum is most worth a visit?
bcdoc
looking for alcohol-free activities to do in Chicago? Which museum is most worth a visit?Chicago Art Institute is terrific and walkable from the Taste area. There is also the Field Museum, too. Skip the Ripley's Believe it or Not at Navy Pier. nalafej
West Fest is still going on tonight for those looking for live music outside with food vendors and expensive drinks. Usually a great time. The rain will effect it too, but it is on streets so there shouldn't be as much of a problem.
bböp
Personally I'd go to the Art Institute, although it may be especially crowded because it's close to the Taste and people will be looking for stuff to do like you.
Magnetized
maybe you'll get lucky and Tweedy will schedule a small show at some cool club in Chicago tonight Jason Isbell did this recently when they were opening for Willie Nelson and Willie Nelson cancelled Jason found a venue in that town and played what was apparently a damn good show
Col. Hapablap
WXRT will still be broadcasting a TWEEDY show tonight. It'll be the Ryman show from June 24th! Im bummed about the cancellation, but at least we get to hear this. WXRT came through in a tough situation.
Cold as Gasoline
I'm so bummed out!!! Been so looking forward to this. Bitter and pouting. Those looking for something else to do might want to czech out the Square Roots festival in Lincoln Square. I was there earlier today after my guitar lesson at the Old Town School of Folk Music. Lots of good food booths and a couple of music stages. Will likely go for a while tomorrow, because my guitar instructor is playing.

Col. Hapablap
Yes,indeed. 5:00pm
Magnetized
Col., would you be so kind as to try to capture the Ryman show for those of us who have to work and can't tune in? I'm going to try to tune in surreptitiously while working, but there are a lot of variables that might keep that from happening.
Col. Hapablap
Wilco Me, I totally plan on doing just that. I might as well since im at home, with no show to go to.
Madcap
I know it has a lot to do with flooding, but it's insanely frustrating that it's basically not rained since they announced it was cancelled!

Col. Hapablap
I'll post it after I split the tracks. There is going to be an error/omission on it. WXRT played "Nobody Dies Anymore" twice instead of Via Chicago. My gues is that Wilcoworld sent them the wrong file to play? I'm not sure.
SarahC
THANK YOU SO MUCH! for recording this. Never did I think I would get to hear the show again!

Cold as Gasoline
That was just a beautiful performance and a pristine recording. Doesn't quite make up for missing out on seeing them tonight, but it helps. Salute to the Colonel for recording it -- thank you, sir! Been sulkily staring outside at the minor drizzle and thinking how much worse the rain was last night when I saw Nickel Creek/Emmylou Harris/Parker Millsap at the same venue. It had to have been more about the flooding than the rain. It wasn't flooded last night, just a little puddly, but it did rain quite hard this morning.
SarahC
oh! The reason they probably didn't do via Chicago is because there was a technical issue at the show. Through almost the whole song the main PA was out for Jeff's vocals and guitar that's probably why v

I still cant understand why they played a song twice in a row on the broadcast, though.
Madcap
Lucinda Williams is playing at Reggie's at 10 tonight. Maybe we'll get lucky and Tweedy will announce something for this week too.
