Analogman
I wonder if it will be something from the 60s - going along with the whole 50th Anniversary deal.
worldrecordplayer
For my money the 9/20 2nd set is the highlight of the run.Yes yes yes. I've said it here before, I was there, sitting 13th row dead center, and it was among the single greatest sets of music I ever witnessed live. That Road Trip series did this a total disservice by breaking this set up. Should have been released in its entirety.
Lammycat
Yeah, it's just in between average to above average versions of regular rotation tunes. For my money the 9/20 2nd set is the highlight of the run.Agree. The To Lay Me Down, specifically, is what I was referring to.
winterland121072
I wonder what David was hinting about in the last video? I noticed he said something along the lines of "I can't believe we are going to put the whole thing out." MAYBE the whole 1980 September / October sf / new orleans / nyc run???? worldrecordplayer
50 years after it all started, and 20 years after Jerry's death, I'm glad that the music and the friendships we all had on tour, are still of vital importance to so many folks. http://www.wsj.com/articles/the-return-of-the-deadheads-1430933536
Lammycat
Did anybody post the forthcoming Bob Weir Netflix documentary? The trailer makes it look very interesting:http://www.rollingstone.com/music/videos/watch-career-spanning-trailer-for-bob-weir-doc-the-other-one-20150506
calvino
Yeah -- glad Netflix picked up that doc --- looking forward to it. The doc came out a while ago, but they couldn't find a distributor, until Netflix picked up. They talk highly of it on the XM Tales show.
Winston Legthigh
Did anybody post the forthcoming Bob Weir Netflix documentary? The trailer makes it look very interesting:http://www.rollingstone.com/music/videos/watch-career-spanning-trailer-for-bob-weir-doc-the-other-one-20150506I think there was some hubbub about it last year when it was making the festival rounds. Too bad (for me) that it's only on Netflix though... And word on when the Scorsese GD doc is coming out?
Lammycat
I thought Scorsese was going to be filming the FTW shows but then it was off.
Winston Legthigh
I suppose I shouldn't refer to it as the "Scorsese/GD" doc, because he's only the exec. producer, not the director. I looked it up on imdb, and it says that it's in post-production, but that's all I could glean.
calvino
Listened to the 5.7.70 show --- decent enough audience recording --- Great Lovelight --- they break into the St. Stephen melody for a while during it -- I don't recall them doing that before - can be way off, though... https://archive.org/details/gd1970-05-07.aud.sirmick.32276.sbeok.flac16 http://www.deadlistening.com/2008/06/1970-may-7th-mit-dupont-gym-cambridge.html
Lammycat
Nice^. The day before they played at MIT also, but outside and it was (supposedly) pretty cold (mentioned on the tape I have). Smoking show noted by a ridiculous "Dancin'" to open. Great show.
NoJ
The MIT show.....is that the one where they were smuggled on to campus in a bread truck?
Lammycat
The bread truck story is from when they played Columbia in '68, I believe.

calvino
Curious to know if anyone has been or is a member of The Well? Always has been interested in signing up. Currently listening to Dave's Pick 14 - so far Disc 2 is really something.
RaspberryJam
I find the 87-90 period to be another peak GD period. I thought the band was hitting on all cylinders. Set 2 of MSG 1987-09-18 is another treasured set, a "must-have" in my book. Let me know if you want me to hook you up with that one. I was at that show. What a night. Currently listening to Dave's Pick 14 - so far Disc 2 is really something.I was on the WELL for many years, haven't been on in years. It was a DOS based dial up board when I first joined in early '90's. I used to know all those DOS commands! NASA scientists and Deadheads, the first groups to take to the internet. A very active GD presence. Tons of tape trading, all those WELL trees going around. Why do you ask?
Mr. Heartbreak
Well, today is the anniversary of one of the greatest Dead shows of all time (possibly even greater than the fabled 5/8/77 show)...I'm talking about the show played on 5/11/72 at a place called Grote Zaal De Doelen, Rotterdam, Holland in the middle of the Dead's amazing Europe run. http://bozosandbolos.blogspot.com/2012/05/51172-rotterdam-morning-dew-baseball.html As Blair Jackson writes in the liner notes, "All you really need to know about this Rotterdam concert is that it was former Grateful Dead vault-keeper Dick Latvala's favorite show from the Europe '72 tour." Hmm, not too shabby praise there. I just might have to break this out later.

Honestly I don't know why I asked --- Gans and Lambert talk about it on the Tales show -- I remember looking into it when I entered college in 1990 --- I never paid to participate on any forum - so I never looked into it.I guess I was just curious....
