linclink
"Totty says that in the course of a 30-year career, Yo La Tengo's music has covered a lot of cultural contexts, making the band a go-to for music buttons between stories. It also doesn't hurt that "they sound like six bands at once," he adds, using everything from the country twang of "Pablo And Andrea" to the heavy hard rock of "Big Day Comin.'" That's why the long-running group will take a train from Hoboken, N.J., to NPR headquarters in Washington, D.C., to be the in-house band for Morning Edition on Tuesday, Aug. 25, playing all those music buttons live between stories."http://www.npr.org/2015/08/23/433011839/yo-la-tengo-morning-editions-in-house-band-for-a-day?utm_source=facebook.com&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=nprmusic&utm_term=music&utm_content=20150823
LouieB
Yo La Tengo was on NPR's Morning Edition today. They played all the bumpers live. LouieB
lost highway
My favorite moment was when they finished discussing stressful stock market news and then said "Maybe some music from our special guests can cheer us up." Cut to searing noise jam, REEEEEEEEE, the time now is 620 AM.

remphish1
As a former Hoboken resident I'm glad to see them chugging along. I used to see Ira all over town. He even stepped on my foot once lol..
bigideas
Interesting that the vinyl does not come with a digital download. That's pretty rare in post vinyl resurgence/digital times.
Boss_Tweedy
I really like the new album. Very chill sound that puts me in a relaxed mood. They were on CBS This Morning yesterday: http://www.stereogum.com/1827564/watch-yo-la-tengo-cover-the-cure-on-cbs-this-morning/video/
Chez
^^^ Completely agree. The softer side of YLT. And it's great.

Chez
^^ Hell, yes!! One of my all-time favorite bands. Two nights in Chicago! Is there an album coming out prior to the tour?
Oil Can Boyd
^^ Hell, yes!! One of my all-time favorite bands. Two nights in Chicago! Is there an album coming out prior to the tour?I have not heard anything about an album but the tour announcement from Matador said "MIGHT THIS TOUR HAVE SOMETHING OR OTHER TO DO WITH NEW RECORDINGS? Maybe. Possibly. Who can really say for sure in confusing times such as these."
tinnitus photography
bummed they are playing the Paradise. Would much prefer Royale.
Magnetized
That 2-night stand at the Cat’s Cradle in April looks like a sure bet for me. It’s such a great venue.
lost highway
Gotta say guys: When I saw recent activity on a thread called New YLT Album, I got excited. Then I clicked and got disappointed.
calvino
Gotta say guys: When I saw recent activity on a thread called New YLT Album, I got excited. Then I clicked and got disappointed. Well technically the thread title is 'New Yo La Tengo!' In this case - new tour. Thalia Hall has become my favorite Chicago venue - so probably will catch one of the shows. Only saw Yo La Tengo in a festival setting or as an opening act - would like to see a full headline show performance.
Chez
I got in on the pre-sale and snagged tickets to the Friday Thalia Hall show in Chicago. As fate would have it, I'm going to be in Dublin the same night YLT is playing there. It's going to take all my persuasive powers to convince my wife to see that show with me. Doubt it will happen. No; it won't happen.
calvino
Grabbed 2 for Chicago's Friday show.
nalafej
I'm heading to the Friday Chicago show too. Went for the old fogie seated balcony option...
