One of the Dem candidates should run on a platform of adding a constitutional ammendment that the President can't pardon people within their own administration. Which of course lets Cheney off the hook!

I realize many of you here are wrestling fans, and since I didn't see it mentioned here I thought you'd want to know. http://abcnews.go.com/Sports/story?id=3397651&page=1 Not to jump to conclusions, but on the heels of the Benoit tradgedy this really has to make you stop and think about the necessity of this "sport." Yeah, it used to be cool back in the days of Superfly Snuka, but the people in charge of it now just seem out of hand.

Wow, Green is really that reviled? Maybe y'all are just still confused about the cover. "They cant' call it Green! The cover is orange!" That was about the time I got into them, so it has more sentimental value for me I guess. And don't be hatin' on Document, either! I'd make an actual list, but I'm not as up on all their albums as I should be.

who's yer fav Michael ?
Mr. Kinsley replied to tongue-tied lightning's topic in Tongue-Tied Lightning
Was he really buff then or are those man-teats? If he was in fact buff and (gasp) manly, just think how stinkin' huge (popularity-wise) he'd be now. Whether you like his music or not, you have to admit he can sing and he's an amazing dancer. If you take away all the other wackiness from the past 15 - 20 years when he really started wigging-out, he really would be the king of pop and not hiding out in Qatar or Dubai or wherever. But knowing Michael, those are probably man-teats. -
1.20.09 With that said, isn't the order aimed at acts of violence? Seems redundant really. Maybe I'm not quite following the legal-speak, though. Ooo, quick edit. I noticed at the top of the White House page that it has a set of links for W, Mrs. W, Dicky C, and Lynn. I thought Dick wasn't part of the executive branch. They should remove that from the page so as not to confuse any school children looking at the site who might be tricked into thinking there's only 3 branches of gov't and not 4.

wow wow wow Ah, the internets.

You're not going to work because you couldn't find a book? Dang. I want to work there too.

No problem, I'll help you out. Meet me behind the Wilco loft at noon. Knock twice on the back door. If anyone asks what you're doing there, just explain everything you said in the original post. They'll probably let you in to wait for me and give you a lemonade.

[insert 80's hip-hop, wwf, hot chick photos here] Kev, Imagine yourself a fantastic birthday!

I think it's sort of an all-or-nothing proposition; it will either get nominated for everything - best picture, actor, actress, screenplay, 2 or 3 songs - or will be totally ignored. Unfortunately, it will probably be the latter.

That is virtually all I've listened to for the past month and a half. Fanfriggintastic.

Dude, you need to start listening to some Ryan Adams and Old 97's at work. Maybe people will start asking, "Hey, who's this? I like it!" and start playing them on your station. I personally don't listen to it, but we do actually have a country station here in the greater LA area (which Hunt. Beach/OC is very reluctantly a part of). 105.1 on the FM dial to be precise, which is apparantly brand new after the old country station changed formats to rap/R&B or salsa or something like that.

I'm hoping that this movie gets all 5 Oscar nominations for best song. And the token Best Picture nod for the little indie pic that doesn't stand a snowball's chance in hell of winning.

I like the term my old boss came up with for newer country music: Mall Country. Two different strategies for saving the 19 year old co-worker from her musical tastes: 1) Make a mix with some real country on it; Willie, Johnny Cash, Lyle Lovett. or 2) Wait until she grows up. Looking back on what I used to listen to when I was that age I cringe a bit. I used to be into Journey and Def Leppard and that sort of crap.

Since almost all drummers tend to worship Neil Peart, I wonder if Glenn is on cloud 9 to not only be on the same cover, but have top billing.

The guy with 69 in his screen name calls someone out for immaturity. That's rich.

No, nobody is offended at all buddy. But when it comes to BBQ I'm not the Hindu. Note: this isn't directed at Jorge, but rather the counter guy.

In his defense, there isn't another POLL on the topic. This thread makes easier to put your finger on the pulse of the Wilco fan on the street at a quick glance. Your honor, the defense rests.

One thing I like about this thread is the healthy* amount of willingness to offer up a less-than-stellar review of a Wilco album, in part of in its entirety. It gets a bit scary when we all bow down at the altar of Tweedy and refuse to say anything that smacks of dissent. *As healthy as anything on a rock band fan board can ever really be. It's all relative.

After re-reading my last sentence, I think I need an outside producer for my posts. How are Rick Rubin's typing skills?
-
My initial reaction to most of the album was, "eh. It's got a few good songs, but no bigee." Now, after about 30 or 40 listens I really love it. The only song I'd ditch is Suck It Up or Stick It Out or whatever that piece of crap is. I've tried listening to it countless times with the intent of letting it grow on me. And it has. Like a nasty fungus. It just sounds like a crappy Grateful Dead knockoff. I do think however that this album shows the need for an outside producer. The thing that took YHF to the next level was bringing in Jim O'Rourke (although I guess he was doing the mixing more

There was a lot of talk about how the concerts were "green" and used sustainable sources of energy, etc, etc. What that actually entails and consists of, I have no idea other than people using biodiesel tour buses and maybe some solar panels backstage. More than likely it means that they bought a butt-load of offsets, which has always sounded like a load of crap to me. But as for the concerts being a waste of energy, I don't really buy it. Being environmentally conscious doesn't mean curling up in a fetal position and never doing anything. It means being smarter about how you go about things.
