  1. Which could easily lead to 2 A's. As for the lack of a "leader," I don't think that's really the problem. Love him or hate him, Bono would probably be the closest we've got today in that category. The real problem is there isn't anyone following the Bono's and Tweedy's. We're all to friggin' lazy with playing our video games, watching our "reality" TV shows, following Paris Hilton's every move, etc., that we aren't paying attention. When we elect our real leader based on the fact that he seems like the kind of guy you could have a beer with, speaks volumes about our priorities. Did an
  2. Huh?! I was driving by that last night on the freeway and saw the Klieg (?) lights in their parking lot. It never even dawned on me about the Simpson's connection (since I never watch it) and I couldn't figure out why they'd make such a big deal out of a re-done 7-11.
  3. It's all an elaborate ruse to help promote the Prius. There was a front page article in the LA Times this AM talking about how the fact that the car was doing 105 mph is the real story in blogs/radio talkshows. Too bad Wilco is already doing the VW ads. And no, the kid's in rehab so I don't see anything wrong with Al the Elder doing talkshows, etc. I'm not real up on how rehab works, but once you're in a facility you don't really have much contact with those outside. Maybe a phone call. I think it's funny how when he doesn't do the "liberal" thing and go coddle his well-past 18 yr old son, b
  4. This is genius! Y'know what else we need? A Wilco shirt that looks like the AC/DC logo - maybe have the L be sort of a lightning bolt. I'd love to take credit for the Wilco Army logo that is my avatar, but someone in I believe So. Carolina beat me to it. It's been so long I don't remember who it was now.
  5. The first time I saw Wilco live The Minus 5 opened. I hated them with a passion and since then haven't yet been able to convince myself that I should give them another chance. I found them annoying, especially the lead singer guy. I was also severely distracted by their keyboard player - I spent most of my time trying to figure out whether or not he's the guy from the original Alexander Hamilton "got milk?" ad. Is he?
  6. A circle only has one lightbulb.
  7. Two words: Geddy. Lee. (And this coming from a Rush fan!)
  8. They actually have a song titled Let's Not Get Carried Away? From the same album session that they did Let's Fight? I wonder what other goodies they have that we haven't seen; Let's Not Be Too Hasty or Let's Get Mildly Disgruntled.
  9. www.mrkinsleywithasharpieandahanes.com only $65 plus shipping
  10. Awwww... c'mon Donna. Can we ask him? Can we ask him? Pleeeeeeease!!! We promise not to ask about his shoes,* underwear, or anything too private. *I can't totally vouch for everyone here on the shoe thing. For some reason over the years his footwear has been a rather disturbingly detailed area of discussion.
  11. I'm probably just a bit slow, but I had no idea that any of the footage from the Vic shows saw the light of day. Kicking Television - first song listed here.
  12. "So, Jeff... is it harder to tour now that you all have to cram into a VW minibus? Or do you have a fleet of them"
  13. How about tour-related questions? I wouldn't mind hearing about what life is like on the road with Wilco. What is a typical day/night like? Strangest song request ever yelled out? Oh, and if we go with the interview-by-stalker-waiting-outside-the-bus option, I volunteer for LA at the Greek.
  14. Once soundtrack. Fantastic. Derek - the new Rush is good? All I heard was the single which sounded rather... pedestrian. Maybe I should give it another chance.
  15. For what it's worth, they're #36 right now on iTunes. Do downloads count in the Billboard charts?
  16. I'm fine with chair dancing. I'll probably be too tired anyway since I'm going to Crowded House the night before. I might just stay there to avoid the parking nightmare 2 nights in a row.
  17. Thanks Walkunafraid! If you haven't tried it yet, select the North or South Terrace sections that are off to the side. Don't ask for best available. I'm in North Terrace about 1/2 way back on an isle. Not great (considering I was front row at the Wiltern last time I saw them) but it's better than a straight view from farther back... I hope.
  18. Yeah, I guess I lumped him in there in the "prickish" rock star behavior section, which I really wasn't trying to do. Just a Rush-related altercation.
  19. I believe he's referring to this. Welcome back!
  20. I was about to start my own thread for this movie, so I'm glad I double checked. This has got to be one of the best movies in any genre I've seen in the last 10 years.* It really seems to be getting some traction in terms of attention and interest. We figured that we wouldn't need to worry about getting there very early since it's some little indie flick - the place was so packed we had to sit in the front row. I loved it even though I could see each and every individual pixel. *Not reeeeally saying that much since it was only the second movie I've seen in theaters in almost 2 years.
