  3. So how is the CD of Summerteeth that comes with the new LP? Does it sound better than the old Reprise disc, or is it just a repressing of the existing cd (identical mix/mastering)?
  4. There was a taping in Toronto this week with Bono and the Edge. There have been reports that a Springsteen episode will be taped along with the others next week.
  5. Well, I'll stand by what I said re: Cocaine and Ashes. The 'snorted my father' line really bugs me -- it pulls me out of the song, and that's never a good thing. I could have figured out the Keith Richards inspiration from the title and (as Dean Moriarty pointed out) the perfect Richards-esque close harmonies. But, since the premise of this thread is a comparison of the two new albums, the winner for me is, far and away, W(TA). Musically, they're both stone solid. I'd probably even give the slight edge to American Central Dust, because I'm a pushover for quality tunes with a bit of pedal steel and fiddle. But lyrically is where the battle is definitively won by Tweedy. Songs like One Wing, Country Disappeared, I'll Fight and Ev

  11. Billboard story Indies Get Wilco DVD Early For Record Store Day February 06, 2009 12:00 AM ET Cortney Harding, N.Y. In an effort to boost excitement for Record Store Day (April 18), Wilco is making its new Nonesuch concert DVD, "Ashes of American Flags," available early, and exclusively, to indie retail for the occasion, Billboard has learned. The film -- recorded in Tulsa, Okla.; New Orleans; Mobile, Ala.; Nashville; and Washington, D.C., during the band's 2008 tour -- will go on sale to all retailers two weeks later. It will serve as a teaser for Wilco's next studio album, expect
