That's a shame.

my favorite poor translation: Q. The evolution of your sound it touched ceiling in magnificent "to Ghost is Born". You fear to have exhausted Filo'n of the Wilco sound before the so high strip that you have put yourselves? A. I am not scared.

i'm getting good use out of my translation widget

back when i was a just becoming a Wilco and Flaming Lips fan (with Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots), the third band in my trinity of good music was Grandaddy. So I suggest getting a Grandaddy album, I suggest Sumday, but the most talked about one is the Sophtware Slump. Or you could just sit tight until Sky Blue Sky in May.

keep the faith, it's coming Christmas 2003. seriously though, Flaming Lips are working their way into pop culture, Wayne Coyne will be on Leno tomorrow in a segment about SXSW. I wouldn't be surprised if they become "She Don't Use Jelly" huge in a non-music specific way. I can't wait for the Ebert and Roeper review about Xmas.

rip it at 8kb/s, that'll teach them.

it's a horrible idea that's going to be all kinds of awesome.

sounded pretty crazy from what i've read. perhaps he should use some "float on" money on a therapist, if there's any left over from the drugs.

the stripped down Bragg songs are Mermaid Ave's highlights, though I think the full band backed Bragg songs mostly suck. maybe Wilco were dropping the ball for his tunes, but i think Bragg probably called the shots and just didn't have the taste that Tweedy and Bennett had for "serving the song" or however you want to say "making it sound good". sadly i still don't own any UT, save some stray Jeff tunes in my iTunes. one day, though.

Icky Thump - New White Stripes album
tongue-tied replied to Welsh Rich's topic in Someone Else's Song
bagpipes and penguins, what the hell is going on? i think "icky thump" is the album title of the year, though. -
Really? Nels didn't pick the album he was a part of? Very strange.

1. John Cleese 2. Eric Idle 3. Michael Palin 4. Graham Chapman 5. Terry Jones
-
it's really four albums against three.
-
i'd take AGIB over the other five, though that's hardly fair to the one I haven't heard yet. so i'll pick the latter to cover my bases.

was you the walrus? -
I can't tell you when I'll get my ears on any Phish albums, but i'll remember that.
-
I don't want to get anyone down, but I think it might be the same album they streamed previously.

Facing the world ain't easy When there isn't anything going Standing at the corner waiting Watching time go by Will I go to work today or shall I bide my time? Cause when I see that union man walking down the street He's the man who decides if I live or I die, if I starve or I eat Then he walks up to me then sun begins to shine Then he walks right past and I know that I've gotta get back in the line Now I think of what my momma told She always said that it would never ever work out But all I wanna do is make some money and bring you home some wine But I don't want you to ever see me stan
-
i haven't heard SBS, but I just don't see it in AGIB, not even in the least.
-
just the fact that you called the bands you like "the masters" gave me a hearty chuckle.
-
Everything after "Hardest Button to Button" completely loses me. but it does have some of their greatest songs.

going back to the wilco/radiohead comparison, though they both have about the same number of albums and both went more experimental, i think the band most comparable to Wilco's career is the Flaming Lips. They both have about the same level of success, though the Flips have probably sold more albums, both are well known but are outside of the mainstream. Both have had one universally acclaimed album. And both only have their original singer and bassist.
-
i'd like to think that music folk don't imagine an award for most important/best band of a generation. i can understand why someone might think radiohead is the most exciting act today, but i'm no part of this radiohead generation. though i do give you that radiohead and wilco have a very similar number of albums.
